Well, I finally got around to toying with the scenario editor. I'm working on a scenario based on the rise of the Nubian Empire. The city map will be Kerma. It will be a fairly large map (165x165 map) and will be suitable for both ugly and pretty builders. :D Lots of sites to conquer (since you are playing as a Nubian King invading Egypt, after all ;) ). There are NO resources to mine or quarry in Kerma, thus dependence on world-level trade is important (simulating Kerma's control of Nubian-Egyptian trade). I'll probably have each of the world-level sites cost a fortune to maintain (like 500 food and 50 bricks a year or something like that :) ). This is where a BIG city becomes not just a way to pass time, but a virtual necessity. ;) I'm using the Upper Egypt map, but since it's kind of limiting (Napata, Gebel Barkl, and Meroe are much farther south), I'm going to have to make things abstract (with Meroe and Napata sites located directly south of Kerma). Anyway, I still got lots to learn about map-making, so it'll be a while before I finish it. :)
