Suggestion for TM -- for all following games :

Create a Computer Compatibility Program that can be downloaded and run to test for deficiencies BEFORE people buy your game. Nothing pisses off a player more than buying a game and then finding that their computer wont run it AND then having the 'fun' of trying to take it back and being refused by the store.

I understand that your 'Demo' could do the same thing, but many people still cannot download 200meg files.

Many people do not know what to check to see if their computer is DirectX9.0b compatible etc.. You could verify various capabilities and then tell the player what needs to be upgraded (graphics/sound/memory/etc..).

If you are using another company's Game Engine, they may have something existing that you can quickly adapt to your specifics. Or create a game shell using their engine that touches all the features that you make use of.

I wish it were that easy. I recently purchased a game - my computer exceeded all the specs on the box. I got it home and had terrible graphic errors even on the menu screen. After reloading twice, I went to the game website. Hundreds of complaints because the game, released in 11/04, was INCOMPATIBLE with Windows XP SP2 - which just about every computer which meets the other requirements would certainly be running. BTW this was not mentioned on the box.

Fortunately the manager of the national chain where I purchased looked at the website at my request and refunded my money. When I was at the same store a week later, he thanked me and told me the game had been pulled from shelves nationwide...
