Diana is the roman version of Artemis, she's the virgin goddess of the hunt. Slaves could find asylum in her temple, shes also the moon goddess, oak groves were sacred to her. Aventine Hill in rome I guess had a temple to her, and the city of Ephesus was dedicated to her. Wasnt the Oracle of Delphi a dianic shrine as well?

Oh and clerical prostitutes were common to goddesses of love. One could "worship" that particular goddess by having sex with the priestess (I believe). In the celtic lands Brighid was a love goddess, and she had 13 priestesses that were also prostitutes.

Other way around. American "T" often sounds like a "D" to me.

However, I admit that hunting deer with a pistol sounds odd. Hunting anything bigger and meaner with a pistol sounds down-right dangerous.
