Hello all, I just found the site today, linked from another board.
I had thought the Ceasar empire dead and gone. I never dreamed to see a Ceasar IV! I am thrilled, and just wanted to let the devs know that I'll be here and waiting with baited breath til I pass out. Then I'll just, uh, wait like normal. ;)
Thank you for carrying on the legacy!
If there are any of the original Ceasar III devs around, I'd just like to say I'm honored to see you keeping on, and to let you know that Ceasar III is what got me hooked on PC gaming. It was the second game I ever played on a computer of any kind (including nintendo, etc.), the first being Everquest- which is a totally different experience.
The screenshots of Ceasar IV look absolutely stunning, keep up the wonderful work!

Which board did you see it on. (Want to see if my blatant advertising is paying off. ;) )
Yep, the horizon for Caeser III fans was definitely dark after the dissolution of Impressions in 2004. Then the clouds parted and and the sun shone through with the announcement of Caesar IV!
Stick around, it's going to be a long but interesting year!

Thanks for the welcome!
Heavengames, the Stronghold 2... Merepatra told me about it in a thread I had started... in which I lamented the end of the Ceasar dynasty....
Oh, the irony! ;)

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
I never thought this would be one of those wonderful titles resurrected from the dead. In fact, on a whim I installed Caesar III again last week and pined about how there would never be another one.
Incidentally, there was a post on the news threads of wargamer.com that led me here. That group may be most interested in seeing this.
Things look great so far. Looking forward to being a Beta tester :D

Welcome, glad to see you made it here. I did find the timing of your thread about Caesar III ironic.

... baited breath til I pass out.
I'm excited, too. :D My C3 never left the desktop. Now if I could just find the disk so I can play again...:(
Please forgive me, but my pet peeve is misused expressions like "running a tight ship" when it should be "running a taut ship" as in having no loose lines or sails flapping around.
In this case, "baited breath" should be "bated breath" as in abated. Another way of saying that you are holding your breath.
Okay, feel free to ban me as a nit-picking meddler. A nit is a louse egg, by the way.

Yeah, I was thinking about it as I wrote it, trying to remember which baited/bated to use. I finally just said it, figuring people would get the idea. Guess not...
:D
As for a taut ship- while that may be the proper usage, that's not the popular, well-known usage. So you'll probably just have to suck it up and deal on that one. ;)

Thanks for having some fun with the baited/bated issue. As I was typing my message, I recalled a conversation that occurred many years ago when I said, "...well, I have read a lot and have a lot of knowledge about many things. When, someone says something that is clearly wrong, I think I should correct them so they don't make that mistake again." And the other person looked at me and said, "Who was it that appointed you to that position?" Since then I have tried to scale back my crusade against sloppy speech, but "baited breath" always makes me think of a hungry fisherman snacking on the minnows.

We welcome you, talented cart pusher: collector of bug spawn!!
The day is coming where you and your cart pushing brethren will no longer have to negotiate poorly conceived road networks designed to segregate and imprison the crazy free roaming market ladies. What you choose to put in your cart is up to you, but there is not a large market for bug eggs- so you might not need a whole cart for that.
Glad to see a growing number of new faces around here, even if some of you have questionable leanings towards subjects regarding entomology.

Tight and taught mean roughly the same thing, so the expression still makes sense either way you use it. ;)
Oh and welcome to CB-land. :)

Unless tight really means "tight", which would make for a very happy crew. :D
