Hello,
I woulde like to have two realy different ways of playing :
one of them would be the possibility to rule the city without obligations to fight but with more difficult economical problems and more complex systems of production.
exemple : sheepfarm->wool and meat
woll->thread->material->clothes->retailing on the market
meat->butcher->retailing on the market
woll-> imperial stock in case of lack due to climat or economical problems
I would like to have season influence on th farms according to the kind of good produced
Instead of being attacked by ennemies the city ruler could have to solve problems like starvation due to bad climat or deasises on things like corn, fruits, animals, robery in the barns, and so on
Of course this suppose that time passes like in Enfants du Nil but month by month or better day by day like in the game Patrician III
Instead of army problems I would prefer to have political problems as revolts due to high taxes, police tyrany starvations , and plots from Caesar's familly .... things like that in such an order to have a realy economical and psychological part of the game;
Sorry for my poor english
Anyway I am waiting eagerly to see this game available in France
By the way, Enfants du Nil is quite excellent and I do enjoy it
To those not already in the know; "Enfants du Nil" is French and means "CotN" ( Children of the Nile ) :p
I would think mentioned something like that would be in order
Anyways, your ideas reminds me of Transport Giant ( played by few though ), where a simply supply type can be transformed into a lot of things, before it becomes sellable/useable for normal citizens.
I personal like that idea.
I think we should keep the military, military was a very important thing in the Roman Empire, they had to be aware of locale oprising, etc.
And when you build your city close to the enemies, then it makes perfectly sense.

Merci Arcan.

First I want to ask you to do so that factories can work if houses are far (as in "Zeus" for example, in C3 it was a problem: I had to build one little house near factories). And I recommend you to make an infinite quantity of porters (which transport resources between factories and warehouses) for each factory, so it players will be able to build special industrial area working for all city. I think temples shouldn't be built near each bedroom community but it must be near the center of the city (as it was in reallity), so you can do so that houses may develop even there is no temples near it.
You can make some dependence between speed of working and education, health, wages.
Make prices as it really was in Rome. And I think it shouldn't be more than one Coliseum (building is unique).
Make buildings constructed not immediately and the time should depend of quantity of construction firms if this feature is included.
And it will be good to make special tool to copy and paste selected area, because many people playing sity-building games like to use standart housing blocks.
I've heard first C4 sound track ("Urbem Conditam Roma") and it's really good, but I think there should be less harps and more drums. Its final minute is excellent. And it will be good C4 to include new version of the first track of C3.
Sorry for my bad English.

Do so that we have to pay for our gardens and statues each year, because in C3 we could build any quantity of them.

Is it possible to make "Buildings Editor" plugin for 3DS Max (or other program used to draw the game) as it is in SimCity 4 for making user own buildings?

Quite right, Svip,
I was as well thinking of Anno 1503 in which some goods need many rough material to be procuded and the same rough material can be used with other differents for other kinds of goods. Many combinaisons possible. ex wool->weber-> gives material and clothes.
Then, cloth + fur gives delux clothes for the noble people .... and so on. And the roughe material must be collected in very different places. (the game takes place on islands) In caesar, we could oil prduced in greece whtis cannabis near Rome and clay from everywhere would give oil-lamps canabis+wood+iron+material gives a boat. oil and perfume from Egypt gives cosmetics for the therms and so on. In Cotn , it is like that but not enough difficult in my opinion.
Of course what you say about city near ennemies it is quite logical. In fact i do not like that much to fight myself. In CotN the player has just to train the soldiers, and if they are correctly trained there is some good probability of victory, but not 100%, and this is the fun in it, because one is never completly sure. For me, like that, it is perfect. You know, I am an old pacific man ! :)
