I'll also take this opportunity to add some sneaky links from Pharaoh Heaven:

General History (http://pharaoh.heavengames.com/egypt/history/genhist/d3.shtml)
Pharaoh List (http://pharaoh.heavengames.com/egypt/history/pharaohs1.shtml)
Some blurb about the Pyramids (http://pharaoh.heavengames.com/egypt/history/pyramids/intro.shtml)

Ever the publicity seeker...;)

Yes, that's an amazing site. It inspired me to post and idea on the Pharaoh board (now expired) about 3D tomb building. Instead of having them just plunked down as a "unit" as per Cleopatra's cliff tombs and then have them "carved out", but rather as multilevel below ground structures that one has workers labor over and "dig" out over time. Using the multilevel tombs at Thebes as inspiration, I think they would be an interesting idea to explore.

I've had similar ideas, but based on building blocks, rather than fully free form. Adding rooms and corridors from basic structures, such as rooms, hallways, ramps, corridors stairs and shafts.

Of course, the next step would be to populate it with guardians and turn it over to a freestanding Tomb game where you can try and rob other player's submitted tombs.

Yes, that was part of my original post on the other forum (which shall remain nameless ;) ). That would allow for some free style building.

The idea was to build the grandest tomb possible to ensure a happy afterlife and to use the tomb construction as one of the goals or measurements of success in the mission much like the old "prosperity ratings".

With the new 3D engine, it might just not be unlikely to see this I think.

Did the idea also involve creating chambers and mazes inside the Pyramids? Perhaps with the odd booby trap? :D

Having re-read the overview, I see we will be building our own tombs. Now it's just a matter of how they plan to let us do that. I'm hoping form something along the lines that we've discussed.

Building pyramids with passages and chambers would be very interesting. Adding security and the occasional booby trap would be a fun item. I can picture the thieves from Pharaoh piling into a tomb and tumbling into a spike pit. :D

Would be fun to be able to climb into the skin of a tombrobber and loot a tomb in a saved game.

What an excellent idea!

I got Egypt 1 and 2 and found I couldn't play either cos I couldn't get past the first puzzle! I hate puzzle games! Reason I got them was some French Egyptologist recommeneded em on the fly leaf of the game and had worked with the team in building the games. I wanted so much to see the cool graphics. :( ANd no Hints or Cheats anywhere for em that I could find..

Hmmm, Tomb building genre game .....

"Assure yourself a pleasant afterlife "

BTW, to Egyptians, robbing a tomb was one of the surest ways to have your soul devoured when you died.....

I agree.
I especially like how they detailed (in many different ways) as many tombs as possible.
