i am an specialist in marketing and if there is any help i can give i will give it for free (because i like very much the series). tm want to make a game that will be sold in many copies for they to recover the money invested in project. so to sell the game in many copies you have to listen to potential costomer (a part of this potencial costomer you will find it in this forum. it is not all but i am sure that we, members of this forum, want the game). so to find the best ideeas of the game i think that is best to make an marketing research in this forum. the research will have as many quastions as you think you need. i also work in it field and i know that is easierto start from something you alredy have (engine of the game) but if you don't consider our opinia will be just another game in the market. so based on this think for example you can make something like this (useing likert or stapel masure or how we call il semantic diference):
1. terain must be diferent from one region to another?
yes
no
this kind of questions is to determin something that can be made in one way or another (on the streets to be only man? if yes, ok we place only man and if not we place woman to).
do you want to be wether change? (if you want 5 if you disagreed 1 and between that how much you want)
yes i ant a lot
yes i want
dont care
no i want
i disagreed totaly
this is the kind questions that can prove the importance of the ideea. ofcourse that the technic problem can oblije you to make it in one way but you must know how far away are you from the costomer need.
i will be very glad to help you with my ideas of constructing the research FOR FREE (ofcourse from where i am, romania, via e-mail or useing this forum) with this and i am sore that everyone will respond to this call, is in there best interest.

The people at TM, or at least those we know from the former developement team of Impressions, has a record of at least listening to ideas. There is no guaranty that those ideas can be used though, because the game may already be a stage of development even at this time where such an idea just can be incorporated with scrapping what they have so far. And, they often have ideas of their own on what they want their game to be like. Plus, they also have to meet certain expectations of what the game's sponsor is going to be like too and what it is they are paying for. Vivendi Universal/Sierra contracted TM to make Caesar IV and they are paying for the development. I'm sure they have certain expectations as well.
It has been suggested that the terrain be different in several threads, I believe. However, just saying that you want it to be "different" is rather a broad term and doesn't really define what you mean. You might want to explain how the terrain should be different in each area and what effects it might have on the game when played in a specific region or area.
Example, to grow grapes for wine, instead of just being able to plant vines on any farm land, the vines would not produce worthy grapes unless they were planted on the sides of hills in a moderate climate.
Another example, hills actually slow down the rate of travel along roads and even more so in areas without roads.

You're right. They may already have the game concepts all gathered. But at least they can gather our ideas to aply in a possible Caesar 5 or 6 in the future.

I'm not saying they don't read them.
If there was ever a list made of all the suggestions they have received over the years since Caesar III was released for what people would like to see in their next Caesar game it would probably stretch for miles.
Thousands of suggestions have been made since Caesar III came out. Many appeared on the old Impressions Games Caesar III forum before they closed those forums down.
The number of threads on this board created in just a couple of months can give you an idea of backlogged ideas they must have received over the years. ;)

as i say i work in economic field and what can i say: i am not the best but from time to time people like my ideas:D so what do you think that an investor want from his investement? maibe you gues to obtain an profit. no one in real world does things for free (i know sometime you make invesment in plesure but is not realy free you obtain plesure:) ). if we start from the idea that the investor wants a profit we obtain the next step which is: he obtain a profit if he sell as much licese as he can. ok we go further to sell as much license to obtain a profit it is absolutely necesare to offer the most things that people want (to meet the demand). ok next to meet the demand he must leasen to the customer (the people who actual want to by the game witch you realy can find it in to this forum). i wark also in it feeld so i know that in this moment they must have the engin of the game (the main ideeas of the game) but where can be made some changes why not to meet the demand. don't expect to meet the demand for every customer because it is imposibly, but try to meet the demand that the majority want. for example if 2 customer want lion and 1 customer want wolf you will put lion to sell 2 game instad of 1. this forum is a helping hand for tm, in my opinia, most product does not have so much suport. trust me on that. there are company hwo pays for such information that you obtain for free from this forum. as i alredy say it if i can help tm with marketing research i will do it for free (for the couse :D, to see a great game gating born, to explain myself i don't want money for this because if c4 will be a suces than we will have maibe pharaoh 2, cleopatra 2, zeus 2, poseidon 2, emperor 2 and so on. do you see now ....:D i and not only i will receive many hours of plaing and enjoi. so you see i just make an futures investment and i hope to succesed :d)
by the way the problem with terrain was just an example of questions. dont take it "ad literam" :o

i just remember: you know what make a games great? to have something new. for example total war series it is a combination of turn base and strategy game and it was a good investment. if c4 can be a combination between city builder and strategy game? :o this will be something. i am sure that many people will buy it just to see the ideea. if c4 will be just a city builder it will be just another game in city builder area of the shop (no metter what it will have like 3d, or conceptual idea). if it combine city builder with strategy it will exist in strategy area and city builder area of a shop. not to mention that not only city builder lover will buy it but also strategy game lover too. this will be cool

You'd have to talk to Vivendi Universal Games/Sierra about that. They are the publishers and marketers for the game. They contracted TM to create Caesar IV for them. Those sorts of decisions are more than likely up to VUG/Sierra.
Tilted Mill, is just the Caesar IV developer....but we love them anyway. ;) :D
