I know that this has been discussed already in great detail. I didn't read too deeply into exactly what was being said so forgive me if I what im about to suggest is simular to somthing already posted. okay here goes.......
I love city builders to me (and many others) they're a good creative outlet and they are somtimes the only thing that can relax me after doing whatever it is I do for a living. I am very patiant calculating and slow paced drawing new plans on graph paper before I play carefuly examining every imaginable detail trying to leave no stone unturned (I have an analytical mind, bet you never guessed)that is the way I enjoy playing city builders but when I play a military scenario I feel rushed and every moment is frantic and to me this isn't enjoyable
what makes it worse is in c3 (I still love it) eventually even in the peaceful missions I had to fight this was more irritating than enjoyable

I've seen people post that it is a city builder not an rts and people who want to fight wars should play games like rtw

I am not going to suggest limiting the military aspect at all i would however like to suggest a comprimise. I think the game will still operate with a ladder system where you work your way up to the top (with a carear that is sorta the only way) and eatch step have a certain number of possible missions sorta like c3 but I dont want it to be soo linear. and one of them could be a solid military mission, another a healthy mix between war and peace (I own that book but will never read it) and last and certainly not least a purely peaceful mission. And if the missions work more like in c2 then one of each type of mission should always be available. this would make me and hopefuly alot of other people happy...hopefully.

so what do you think

There are people that won't play military mission at all. So I don't think they'll enjoy it if they forced to fight in the game even when it is only once in a while.

It doesn't matter to me, because I'll more than likely play through both sides.

I think it is better to keep the C3 system of peace and war, even though some peaceful missions did have small amounts of military activity.

yep thats me....will not buy it if it were the case.

Will there be combat?
...............However, as a city-building game combat is not the focus of Caesar IV, but a complementary aspect. When selecting the province you wish to govern, you can choose scenarios that require combat or scenarios that have very little or no combat

ahhh i like the sound of that.... I CAN CHOOSE:D
