During my trip to the Lab...

I always thought the setting you made during the game mattered. With my game set to NORMAL, I would load player's save & my Scenario Info button within their saves would show normal, even if they had played the game on hard.

Perhaps not! Perhaps it is how you start the game & the Scenario Info setting later means nothing & shows the wrong setting. More testing needed.

I originally played Akhetaten on HARD. Continuing play today surprized me. My Scenario Info buttom shows NORMAL, which is how my game is set now.

But look at my images! I expected the game to revert to normal, but it doesn't look like that is what happened!

200+ ~ 25 ~ but can go down to at least 190-something.

I was on 22 educated for the range 187-199. It probably goes lower.

23 & 24 educated appear to be Impossible Numbers, just like there are impossible numbers on NORMAL settings.

You can only set the difficulty when you start a scenario. You cannot change it in the middle of a scenario & you cannot tell what difficulty a game-save is by looking at the setting in the Scenario Info button. The message is bogus after-the-fact.

It is something I never had noticed before. TM has it covered, though.

They have a mouse-over on the difficulty setting. I found it when I started Dreamsoftwilight's A'aru, City in the Afterlife yesterday.

TM ~ 1/2
Duffer ~ 0

EDIT: Adding the appropriate image & adjustment of the battle results (I'm harder on myself than I am on TM):

TM ~ 1/2
Duffer ~ -1

About impossible numbers: Educated workers is determined by prestige. There are jumps, resulting in Impossible Educated Numbers.

Normal (prestige ~ number of educated workers)

0-5 ~ 4
6-11 ~ 5 (Can go down to at least 4. Many can go a bit lower on the way down. -5 appears to be the max. Going up in prestige are hard numbers)
12-19 ~ 6 (Can go down to at least 11)

(These above are a bit guestimates. We usually begin by building Mastabas, Sphinx statues & upgrading Palace (huge jumps). Testing here is a bit difficult. I have lots of data points, though)

20-29 ~ 8 (Can go down to at least 19)
30-39 ~ 9
40-49 ~ 10 (Can go down to at least 39)

50-59 ~ 12 (Can go down to at least 45)

7 & 11 Educated Workers are Impossible Numbers on NORMAL. Other Impossible Numbers are 15, 19, 23, 27, 29, 31-34. Max on Normal is 35.

you lost me:( :( , but if this will help you, the max number of educated workers on normal i THINK is 35, even if you have 500 prestige

On HARD, the only other possible Impossible Number appears to be 21 Educated Workers, but methinks not. I need more data points. 23 & 24 are definitely Impossible Numbers on HARD & probably the only ones.

Data point range:

20 ~ 169-174 (range 170-179?)
22 ~ 185-199 (range 190-199?)
25 ~ 195+ (range 200+)

My guesstimates leaves the range 180-189 for 21 Educated, but I have not seen the number 21 yet. I have seen all the others.

Oh, one other thing about HARD. You don't appear to get any young Pharoahs.
