Apparently, I have been living under a rock...
I just realized that Caesar IV was quite a ways through production, and CotN has been released. I see both as supercharged versions of Caesar 3 and Pharaoh. On the note of CotN, I notice it is not made in conjunction with Seirra. Is it the unofficial extension of the series, or just heavy influenced (I haven't looked into it yet, I just went by the look of the game itself)?
This is all a very pleasant surprise.
This post is to state my gratitude toward a company which has not followed the "graphics > game play" model of the entire industry. Yes, your graphics are absolutely amazing, but I have gotten the direct feeling that you are fans of the original series at heart. That really speaks to me in terms of a product as well as a company.
I'm of an off-centre demographic. My list of online games include SC, D2, DotA, WoW, and GW. My list of favourite games are SC, Age of Wonders, D2, and Caesar III. In terms of companies which I respect, Arena Net tops my list, as well as CCP (the makers if EVE). Basically, I have elements of power gaming, but am ultimately guided by the sense of fun. This leads me to demand an excellent final product, as well as a company who cares for its players. TM has left a very good impression with me within the first few minutes.
I originally saw "Caesar IV" - excitement ensued. Then I saw the 3D graphics. To be blunt my heart sank, not because of this game but because of the industry. Fancy, new, advanced, all these words when combined with the word graphics lead to the "graphics > game play" focus. Saying this, as soon as I read the C4 FAQ all doubts were dealt with. Whoever wrote that FAQ, they certainly knew their fair share of C3. In the gaming industry that alone is usually unattainable.
Thank you, TM, for being an original act. :D Also, a very nice layout and delivery of your content. It's good to know some companies can find success among some ugly developer beasts.
Excellent work, enjoy the success with being true to your fans.
