View Full Version : Screen-shot speculation...back to fires?

I'm enjoying COTN...a LOT. I particularly enjoy not having to worry about 'building inspectors' and 'fire marshalls' (or whatever they were called).

I saw a screenshot from C4 - it was a building on fire. I'm wary to see how this will play out in the game...

I'm sure we are going to see the return of some sort of engineer and prefect in Caesar IV. But that's just my opinion. Beyond that its hard to say how they will be implemented.

Looks like you are totally screwed, Jodet!

I'm very happy about those images & what they infer!

I was talking with a friend of mine the other day, a long time City builder fan, like me. We both thought the prefects and engineers were 'busy work'.

I much prefer the feel of 'COTN'. It's so much more like a 'real city' with 'real people'. In 'COTN', as a player I feel more like a city administrator than a gamer trying to jump through artificial hoops.

But I'm sure 'C4' will be it's own unique thing. I don't have too many suggestions for the developers. Just 'make it fun' and please, not ridiculously complicated. I think back to how much fun (to me) C3 and Pharaoh would have been if we could have 'switched off' those damn 'ghost employment walkers'. That was a bridge too far in the complexity department. I did not miss them at all in 'Zeus' and 'Poesidon'.

You think 'real cities' don't have 'real fires'??

I agree with Keith, I'd assume from the pictures my nightmare has returned, and I'll always have either too many prefects, or not enough, and watch it burn to the ground. :(

However, I must admit, the idea is challenging after the largely non-event type building in COTN. It means I'll have to think in a different line again, and that's not always so bad. ;)

If you try any of Karter's later user-made scenarios, Bugsy, you will find that destroying buildings, mines & quaries IS possible in COTN.

TM chose not to use this possibility in the game scenarios.
