Well, when you search on google say, what happens is your query is compared against their internal lookup database. Therefore, in order for your site to appear, it needs to first be indexed by the search engine and put into its database. That can happen in two ways: you can submit your site to the s...

Well, I always* said: food and sleep are overrated any way. ;) I found it a little odd as well that people didn't actually need food to evolve. However, I figured without food they'd just die off for malnutrition (there is after all in NewConstants data for health penalties for lacking food types). ...

Yeah, I was wondering about that when I first saw the Migration Point on my map. Were you able to populate Disconnected Residences? I'm pretty sure I've seen pleb and equite immigrants go cross-country. Maybe patricians won't lower themselves to leaving the road, however. I wouldn't know as there i...

Huh. It feels kinda funny to have something you've been taght and have accepted as a more or less given fact overturned all of a sudden. :) Ah well, not the first time, nor probably the last this happens. ;) Better this than having three extra ones though. :)

I notice this too; I think that, if your favor is below 50 or arond 50, then the messages tell you that you are "approaching mediocrity" or "not as competent as before" although your favor might be rising; the messages are simply referring to the favor number you are on. It would be nice if the gam...

Is there a way to capture screens in PNG? or TIFF? If you go to the directory where the game was installed (default "C:\Program Files\Sierra\Caesar IV Demo"), and open the file "CaesarIV.ini", there is an option towards the end that reads "Take BMP Screenshots", followed by a 0. Change that to a 1,...

Well, I just finished my first game in the demo. :) Yay. Victory in 21 months. (Caesar's favor was slowing me down a lot. Everything else had been done for a while.) Not a particularly big or spectacular city - definitely not as pretty as some of the shots posted here before - but its mine. :o I cou...

Even with as little assistance as you provided to the fleets, a ship with a rower's seat for you has been found. Good one. :) I am enjoying this thread, guys, thanks. :D While on the topic of pissing off Caesar... I just finished my first play through the demo mission, and towards the end, I ...

I also try to have all (or as much as possible) housing evolved as high as the level will allow. Note sure which poll option that would go under, however. ;)

Ooh, pretty. * Vovan stares at his ... free-form ... Narbo * Yeah... I have a ways to go to achieve something like this. My cities usually just kinda happen. ;) I don't do much pre-planning these days, so, consequently, they look... poorly planned. :D Any way... Looking forward to more from ya. ;) V...

Am I seeing this right? In a couple of screenshots I see roads that are oriented diagonally. Yes, you are seeing this right. Roads (and, incidentally, buildings, too) can go horizontally, vertically, and diagonally (though with a freely rotatable camera, it's a bit hard to say what exactly is horiz...

Hmm isn't Data Execution Protection (DEP) supposed to stop virus like behavoir of programs trying to execute themselves from non executable parts of ram? Demo startup error + solution for AMD 64 CPUs

Well, so I just came back from about a six-month absence from this site, and discovered the demo. :D Yay, thought I, as it was downloading, but when I got it, the game didn't start. Hrmph. I looked around here, did the register dll thing, and it didn't help. Now, mind you, I was starting the game fr...

You could also see how well people can follow directions by making a poll:

Please don't vote in this poll.
o OK, I won't.
o Oh, yes, I will.

I would definitely vote in that one. :D

So... If you switch the current language to Japanese, then typing will produce Japanese characters, but they don't correspond to what is painted on the keys? Is that the problem?

Now, I don't know about Japanese keyboards, but the way it works with Russian keyboards is, you need to switch the current language. You have the little language bar on the right side of the task bar that says by default EN. If you click it, you can select another language. (Or you can just hit Alt-...
