Police and criminals

I have never noticed a particularly high criminal activity and so haven't concerned myself with this aspect of the game. However, I recently dabbled a bit with it and came up with a few questions. The police whistle is used to represent law enforcement facilities. I notice that these symbols also ho...

Is there any way of setting the priorities/preference by which venues are selected for visitation by travelers?

Executives Booking Accomodations

Something that I have just recently noticed. The Executives spend much more time booking accommodations than the other traveler types. The gourmand and gambler types, which are also in the high roller category, spend very little time doing it while the executives spend about half their time time boo...

Every building is one of a kind. Each building is tracked seperately and is a unique object, you can even click on a building info card and modify its name, and it will only modifiy the one building. So, If you have 30 clam shacks, they are still each a different clam shack. So a gourmand may pick ...

I have tried to find out about the algorithm for scheduling where the travelers go to dine and for entertainment but have drawn a total blank. Either no one knows or is not saying. It seems to me that the only reason a traveler should travel a long way to get to a venue is when there is one of a kin...

Isn't the Scenic Pier a Tourist Trap? Those cause travelers to go to them and spend time at them even when they don't satisy the travellers needs. In addition there is a special sim that encourages travellers to visit tourist trap - I forget the name of it. I believe resort security can help trim t...

I took your suggestion and took screen shots of the traveler cards of the problem travelers. I wound up with a lot of pictures. I am not sure which ones would be of value to analyze the problem. Can you give me some idea of what to look for.

How long have you followed those particular travellers around? Can you show a screenshot of the case discussed? I have followed several Gourmands each over a period of most of a game week. I usually pick one that does not have a green satisfaction balloon. It just wanders around, visits a few venue...

I wonder if it serves the same purpose as the news ticker phrases - that it might not actually have any real meaning at all. What mood are those departing gourmands in? I'm thinking that it's simply a case of the programming being bored and wanting to write something other than just "going home." I...

Maybe they didn't like any of those restaurants/hotels? Possibly the places they did like (ie. the more attractive locations) may have been full. Maybe the locations were not keeping their dining and accomodation satisfaction full enough. If a traveller (such as the gourmand) is losing 13 dining sa...

Azeem, I just wanted to let you know that with a lot of outside help, I was able to fix the problem. Using techniques taught to me recently by a super-programmer that I have been corresponding with, my son and I were able to determine that I had an invalid category being returned from the param map....

Hi Azeem,

The original Natural Resort had about a dozen affiliations. The new one has none.

In the same city, I have a Beach Resort that has 26 affiliations.

Things are worse than I thought! Finally, due to lack of ideas, I deleted the Natrural Resort and installed a new one. Then, I clicked the building action button so as to begin affiliating venues to the resort. None of the venues turned green! In other words nothing was eligible for affiliation! Not...

Thanks Azeem.

I tried using the left mouse button but it didn't work. I also tried that on another resort and it worked there.

That limit of 12 venues was interesting. I'll watch for that.

Hungry and tired - Going home!!!

I have frequently seen the subject reason posted on traveler cards as an excuse for leaving the city early. Only recently have I questioned this statement. On close examination, I have often found that the traveler was surrounded by restaurants and empty accommodations and had plenty of money when h...
