Hi Flammehav I'm not sure about the Grand Campaign and the CotN-supplied scenarios, but I know it's possible to lose in a user created scenario. I've played with the editor enough to know that one can force a loss and I've seen one or two that if you do just the right (or wrong I guess) things, you ...

Are there no more developers that read these forums? Somewhere, sometime, some programmer put program code in place to make this calculation (these calculations?) Even if there's an error that prevents totals from jiving, there is program code that some smart programmer could decipher, explaining th...

Hi Yoxo I agree with PantherX that sandbox is supposed to be easy. You are shortchanging the game and yourself if you refuse to even try any other mode of play. I too have played many city builder games, and IMHO CotN brings a new approach that is refreshing. You say you like challenges, yet you onl...

Seven?!?!?!?!?! Most Likely, that would prompt me to start the city/map/scenario over from the start! A stretch like that is an omen for bad karma for the whole game I'd say! {Edit} Oops! I should have followed the link before replying! Now that I HAVE looked at the link, I think that scenario...

A little more about floods and food if I may... I HAVE experienced more than one failed flood in a row, although it doesn't happen often. Anyway, as I start a city/scenario and as I build my city up, I try and make sure I have ample bakeries and granaries to ensure that I at least save/store ALL yie...

It has always been my thinking to keep the main city and work/military camps as close as possible to minimize the damage from people walking between them. This is wong, then. Better to keep remote camps - remote :p Hi again TEP :) I wouldn't say it's wrong, no. A great thing about CotN is tha...

I suppose I should clarify too - I interpreted TEP's question to be about the very start of a city or scenario, NOT about a remote camp. My reply in post #25 above reflects that.

I have to admit, I STILL haven't bought Alexandria. Christmas and my birthday brought gifts of two new games to try out. I've been playing Dawn of Discovery (aka Anno 1404) for a while now  (sorry, but I can't just let them go to waste!)

Am I to understand that citizens will not ask for healthcare and worship until I build certain buildings? Hi TEP I don't know the game as intimately or as deeply as Tinkerbell, but based on the quote of his that you've highlighted, I can say that you would be hard pressed to avoid building any lux ...

how many huts per noble, luxury shop, or educated is ideal? Hi Vyse Dyne! I tend to place one servant for each noble, but I've seen posts from folks who use other strategies - starting with more servants than nobles for instance. Keep in mind that servants help lux shops when they are not working f...

Man i was wondering, if you have like 2 raider camps and both send raiders, is there anything do do to specify wich of the raiders attack when raiders are invaiding tghe city? You can specify what "nationality" the raiders are, but as far as I can tell, there's no real difference. As noted in one o...

Hi Punchackale, I agree that your English is good enough for this forum :) I understand your frustration with the river creation process, I've experienced it too, and I'll bet most who have tried the editor have also experienced it. There are no "magic hints" that I was able to find. The best advice...

Hi Setokaiba! I'm not sure if this is your problem or not, but for farming, the "flood plain" terrain painting is more important than the elevation. In fact, on ANY elevation, whether near a river or not, painting with the "flood plain" terrain makes land usable for farming. As to the crashes you've...

Hi Rameses! Everyone who has posted before me has been giving great advice, but I just had to add my two cents anyway! :D You seem to have decided that you are indeed trying to grow your city too quickly, and reading through the posts in this thread, I agree. Agreed, CharleyK1! I was gonna let Yahya slide, but since you jumped in... v1.3.01 has made the game much easier to build remote camps. I do it all the time now. Sakasiru kinda issued a challenge for me to try both with and without a remote camp. The scenario I was playing then didn't allow for tha...

The guard houses are inadequate because no one mans them constantly; therefore, it's a waste to have a city guard commander. I no longer even build guard houses. I've found three things that help: 1. Placing my guardhouses in strategic locations (watch where raiders appear from - often you can plac...

Hi Jokubas :) The two previous posts covered most everything, but I thought I'd address your wandering workers a bit more. One of the things that long time players "argue" over in their playing styles is whether to use remote camps or not. They CAN be useful for some tasks, particularly quarrying. O...

Hi Ashkir! Sounds like you're doing fine. You've run across one of the "dilemmas" regular players struggle with - do I delete a building/person or not? If/when you delete any brick makers you don't need any longer, you'll probably see the number of vagrants in your city increase. If your city has a ...
