Thanks! That doesn't seem to be a major complaint, so I guess I'll let it ride. I thought for a while that building a cult temple on another site from the world map would help, but that clearly had no effect.

I'm getting plenty of complaints in CotN that my city has no patron god. I've had the temple properly dedicated (with a nice statue, too!), but it hasn't helped. Is this something I can affect, and if so, how?

Thanks. It would appear to make sense, then, to put the scribe relatively close to the fields they're going to check. And from what I've read, no sense to stick them in an Exchange.

Thank you. :) So the longer they live, and the higher your prestige, the bigger the monument, or the more your prestige suffers as a result.

Thanks. I'm finding it difficult in CotN to get enough food to furnish the upkeep for the various world map sites that have something I want; most seem to care for that.

It's good to have this sticky thread, but several of the threads above are now deadlinked.

Suspending upkeep

Does suspending relations with a site also suspend upkeep? That's not been my experience thus far in CotN, where my city still seems to be paying food upkeep, based on the world map.

Bury me not in my lone mastaba...

I've seen the recommendation in threads here three times, now: you can bury your pharaoh in a large mastaba. This begs the question, why a large one? Why not a regular or economy model? Is that perceived as a come-down for him/her, so that prestige is actually lost?

Way to go. Remember to build a few scribes (two to four) depends on size of city and set them to collect taxes or food will always be a problem. That is, noble's will not pay taxes (which is food) if their fields are not counted. Sorry for bumping an old thread, but what sort of scribes-per-nobles ...

Yes, I understand that you first get military sites revealed that require chariots & thus cedar first. It is TM being Tricky & Very Evil again. Ignore those military sites until you can find the cedar to make chariots. :D Thanks. That makes matters much clearer. So my key to expansion is really pre...

I suspect I'm making a beginner's error in confusing the fact that cities in multiple scenarios are the same. So I should have checked for the scenario name, first. My bad. So it would appear I have to keep exploring, as in conquering, etc, to find cedar. As it happens, the raiders (I'm t...

Daughter of Isis, and the name of the city is Iaret.

By the way, thank you for your speedy and courteous response. :)

Howdy, Bertouch! Iaret is Daughter Of Isis sandbox scenario & yes there is cedar available on the World Map. Keep exploring! Good Luck! :) I just checked again, and couldn't find any cedar. Cycled through all available world sites, and didn't see anything. I'll try again, right now. EDIT: No, nothi...

Problem in this scenario would seem to be that there are no world sites offering cedar wood. So my shipwright pretty much looks pretty, without doing much for heavy travel. I fully understand why there would be locations on both sides of the river for basalt, etc: Iaret is designed to be extremely e...

I ended up destroying the overseer's building, and reconstructed it a long way off, much closer to the basalt site on this side of the river.

Can't get the statue over the river

I've got a site, Iaret, on two sides of a river: my main city in one side, but my basalt mine is on the other. My temple requires a basalt statue, so I sent my overseer and laborers across. They quickly prepared several statues for moving, but here's the kicker: though I've reassigned the overseer s...

I don't know if this is different in the tutorials, but in the normal game, you can produce graduates without papyrus. Papyrus is said to make a priests work faster, but it isn't necessary. Noticed that in the text, too, but in my second year without graduates I decided it was better to put in the ...

Graduates problem in second tutorial

In the second tutorial, my priest has been assigned for some time to teach in a nearby school. He does this, and has, for over a year. He's had 9 students, and currently has 3--but has never produced a graduate. I don't know what happens to them! Maybe they drop out and join rock bands in Persia. Bu...
