About the design thing, that where the filters help. Set it on small town or romatic etc. and you'll find your choices are reduced but at least everything goes together a bit better.

Agreed

Yeah you do end up spending alot of time checking the costs/profit of every building. Your workplaces need to be profitable enough to pay for the maitenance of the housing and venues for its workers. Clumping communal farms and elder councils is one great way to go. I like this version much more cau...

City size

yeah it doesn't really seem to be determined by city size that I've notice. I recent turned it down to medium settings (from high) and its been more stable. One crash per playing session ie 4 hours

Fav City Types

Agreed on the Cyberpunk best looking finished city I think. But I enjoy making the small town ones the best. Love the various farm types and nice homes. Currently taking on the Authortative trophy in Strategic Challenging and having some rough starts but I'm sure I'll get it. Not alot of decent venu...

True

Yeah its not the kind of game where you can have set tips and tricks per say. Unlike the wealth of online info for a game like fallout3, quest walkthrough hidden weapon locations etc. About modding, I am interseted in the idea but first I want to beat the game on nightmare mode - ie jack of all trad...

Nice

Firstly thats quite the nice city. I'm pretty sure that up there in the high ends of tourist you can acquire in a city since you have everything and 50k income isn't as high as I think it should be. I've had tourist income more than that with less tourist if I remeber correctly. Also for one of the ...

Not the best answer

Well each of the destination travel items have an estimated travelers each will bring in. Taxi stands, etc. Its easy to build your city and get the level 2 star, but pushing past that mean buying alot of the crap travel methods till you get enough to build the shipdock and the airport, after that yo...

Interseting IDEA

I'm from Calgary, Alberta, Canada so I might try and take on that duty. Gonna try out a western mod so I could building what the city was originally, a fort with farms along a river and then evolve it into the Western metropolis it is. I realize being exact isn't possible but to me big land marks li...

Crashing

I happned to have posted in every category so I thought I'd at least finish up with a tech post.

Yeah my game crashes about once an hour but I love the game so I live with it. Got my autosave turned down to 5 mins so I never lose much in a crash.

Cities XL

I also downloaded the demo and gave it a run. When I heard about it I got super excited. Pros: 1) Online content continous updates are great 2) Curved roads, the greatest new thing since sliced bread, love em Con's 1) Can't see it being enough for me to pay 10 bucks a month for a city sim 2) Roads l...

Must have MODS?

I've used the search but haven't found. Is there a list somewhere of the go to mods that makes gameplay more fair? I've hunted for the Subway changes and implement those. Or a thread reccomending some of the best ones. And lastly failing all that I should just use trial and error eh? -Eladimir

Tips and Tricks for Strategic Mode

I've been crawling these forums over the last couple weeks as I've gotten back into SimCity Societies and wanted to post some of my own findings recently. 1) In starting a city I've found no more efficient way to go than building some communal farms with some elder councils and some row housing. Thi...

Excellent city

I was also thinking about the mod question. I've been trying to decide what to do with my next city. Challenge of nightmare mode (using only the most efficient building to achieve my ends) or maybe a step back some a city of design with less intense scruitny on profit. I like your open concept, I te...

Moving into Nightmare Mode

After getting most of the awards in Challenging Strategic Mode and the Jack of all Trade Trophy I guess its finally time to move up to Nightmare mode. Wanted to discuss with you all the key things to make sure my city doesn't collapse under me. Should i just run straight for an authoritative dictato...
