My personal problem with CotN was accessability. In the first mission you needed to put down houses, wait, put down shops, train a priest, build a temple and so forth. A lot of game concepts are mandatory in this game and not necessarily optional advanced concepts. I have been playing Civ4 a lot lat...

I'm a big Caesar 3 and Pharaoh fan and I've been waiting for a proper sequel to these games. I didn't like the approach of Children of the Nile (too much work, in stead of gameplay) and it seems quite a bit of people agree with me. Although I hope Caesar 4 will focus more on playability in stead of ...

C3, Pharaoh, Cleo. And Zeus, Emperor. CotN however... I have a simular experience, but I don't agree with your conclusion. Of course you can have this opinion, but in that case I don't think this will be the game for you. I do want some extra challenges (certain requirements, like diplomatic ones, ...

A good answer to the unassignable-laborers-and-overseers problem remains to be seen. I think you need to get back to some sort of radius, which ends at mountains and rivers, so people won't walk around them or uselessly wait for ferries. I think this concept could work for the unrealistic housing i...

I have to admit that from the first moment I saw a tent evolve into a shack and a shack into a hovel and a hovel into a casa, I was hooked! I've been playing it ever since.

Exactly! Caesar 3 + roadblocks (+ 3D) = Caesar 4

I recently reinstalled Windows. The only games I always reinstall after Windows are Caesar 3, Pharaoh+Cleo and Civ3+addons. I recently reinstalled Diablo 2 and Lord of Destruction. Good times! My videocard is too old for these newer games.

http://www.gdconf.com/archives/2004/johnson_soren.zip This is quite a good read, especially page 45 and up. I've bought every CB game since Caesar 3 and loved Caesar 3, Pharaoh and Cleopatra the most. Although it lacked a lot of realism, I still enjoy these games a lot. I used to suck at Caesar 3, ...

It's the retailversion, in box. It has the manual, the whole nine yards. The CD has not been used once. I always play with a copy to protect my original (which I am entitled to according to Dutch law), hence the CD is unused. I bought it, but I don't have the time to invest in this game, which I reg...

I only played the tutorials of CotN and played Pirates! after that. I was very pleasantly surprised! Now I'm hooked on GTA 3 and Vice City on xbox, those games were on the heap of unplayed games. I hope I can get back into CotN. My first experiences were that the game is awefully low-pased, but very...

I'll try the grand campaign, let's hope for the best then... Maybe I should put my copy up on e-bay while I can still get a good price for it. I want to be able to load it up, build a city in 2 to 3 hours. I don't want a small stable village in that time... Let's not jump to conclusions now... :p Fr...

Tutorial too big

I received my copy from a nice e-bayer a few days ago and started playing. So far, I like the concept, a lot to do, but the tutorial is soooo slow and big. I can't keep my attention to the game. Click a building, put it down and wait.... wait... Produce a graduate, wait..... And the instructions fly...

A bit offtopic: in the Pharaohlympics a few years ago, someone managed to build a city with 20,000+ inhibitants with only one watercarrier
