Sand Wars III thread from UCS

There was some spam in the Sand Wars III thread earlier, so I reported that post.

Now it seems that the Sand Wars III thread is hidden or deleted.

Will that be able to come back in the future or do I need to make a new one?

Re: Buildings and their uses

Just went to the CotN site to review, and I am thinking of the merchant center. This is the area where all foreign merchants will set up and it allows your people easier access to their wares. If you have a scribe set to handle the merchant center you will get tax revenue, but it's nothing compares ...

Re: Buildings and their uses

If I'm not mistaken, a quay is built by placing a merchant exchange (I think that's the name of the area where out-of-town merchants set up) along the water. Most people stopped using them because all merchants will go there and things get pretty clogged up. It was deemed better to use 1 or more exc...

Thanks for your feedback. I appreciate it.

That's interesting regarding the triggers on Windows 10. I look forward to reading whatever you find out about that.

Re: The extension “scn” has been deactivated

I believe the forums are blocking all uploads at this time, though I'm not positive about that.

Meantime the best way to upload is to use another upload site and include a link here.

Hey sakasiru,

Yes, I think you're right about the prestige mechanism. That sounds exactly like what I remember.

Re: Dealing with worship complaints (Edit: NVM)

Yes, they are entirely random. Three in a row is just terribly bad luck. You can go an entire game, 30 or more years, without a single failed flood. The only time I can think of when they weren't random was in Jimaaten's "Seven Fat Seven Lean" scenario where he coded 7 consecutive failed f...

Re: Tink returns!

I might have to dust off the CotN box and get back to designing some things. Now that Sand Wars has to go to Episode VII I'm seriously behind.

Re: Dealing with worship complaints (Edit: NVM)

We'll need you to be more specific. There should be no merchants who sell nothing. Well, that is unless you haven't set up any customers for them, or the population has no demand for their goods because they have more important concerns. For example a population with healthcare problems won't shop f...

Re: Lag even on blank map

Hi molotof, That's odd. With your machine specifications there should be no trouble at all. The only thing that I thought when reading your post was that the fog distance could be turned down. That causes a lot of lag if turned up too high. However, you said you turned all graphics options to minimu...

Re: Dealing with worship complaints (Edit: NVM)

Hi Chopkinsca, and welcome. You're right; everybody who has started with CotN has had to make that adjustment. In the beginning many of us built work camps like the tutorial explains to do, but we quickly learned that the overseer from a distant pyramid camp will walk all the way to town to go to th...

Re: An 'open ended' Cotn?

This might not be what you're looking for, but if you want something completely open-ended where you can build whatever you like, give Minecraft a try. Seriously. You can go absolutely nuts there and the canvas is more or less limitless, with a world size something like 7 times that of the Earth. Th...
