What is the differance between playing on medium and hard in this game?

Topic says it all really. I know the max numbers of educated workers is 35 for normal and 25 for hard, but what else?

Is there more bad floods and/or less harvest, do people get dissatisfied earlier, are there more raiders or something else that makes the game harder?

Buying this, will it work with my box?

I got the original boxed game from WAY back in time, some 13-14 years or so. I reinstalled the game after having it shelved for a long time and installed the newest patch. Will Alexandria work if I buy that from steam of will I have to buy the whole game from steam for it to work? Also what is the e...

Shopkeepers vs farmers/nobles etc

How many people do a regular shopkeeper cover? I know it varies between how far the shop is from the raw materials, how far they are from other shops and services and whether they're serving farmers or nobles, but you have any good rule of thumb for an average city? How many farmers (or other low/mi...

Yes we live in a strange world! :p :D And since Hungarian (which by the way is distantly related to my language) was mentioned I'd like to tell you a little story I've heard. Remember what I said earlier, it is Broken English people speak all over the world. :o ;) :D A Finnish tourist was dining so...

Water works by means of a underground network of pipes that extend a certain distance from each reservoir. You can extend coverage by linking reservoirs together with aqueducts. Reservoirs need to be attached to pumphouse which are near the rive and need equites to function. Use your WATER over lay...

Worth getting?

Is this game worth it? I'm a big find of city building games, but I've also played other games, like adventures games, shooting games and more combat focused games. This seems like a mix of a city building game and an adventure game?? How much of the focus is about building and improving/expanding y...

The first planned version of sustainable use of resources(at least in any noticeable scale), was between 1600 and 1700 in Germany I think. Some guy divided up the forest in 60 equal parts, one to be used and planted each year. So that would be several hundred years prematurely to think of resource m...

Just PLEASE don't limit the game to much with the intention of going on tablets. Feel free to make a separate version of it, but let PC be the main console. I still remember the hugely annoying UI for Skyrim. You probably can't make it much better on a console, but for a PC it gotta be one of the wo...

One thing about cathedrals is that they often took hundreds of years to complete. That might not fit inside the scope of the game easily. In games like Children of the Nile ot often took up to 20+ game years to complete the largest pyramid in the game. It depends on what they have in mind in terms ...

City building games was never about multiplayer. That tried it a bit in Emperor, but not a big success. You would be better of playing Empire Earth I think. Improved AI I could go for. nothing more annoying than to have one guy standing around for 5 hours trying to figure out what to do, or when you...

I can never find the raiders - searching for them in a city is useless for me - can't ever find them. Seems there should be a way to track them with an indicator, but can't find a way thus far. Have researched this with the help info in the game to no avail. Finding them is not hard. Just drag a bo...

I start with the palace and 4 noble houses. The noble houses will usually not fill before the flood is good ad well over and we're far into Peret, but I will still build all the 22 farmhouses they can handle. I will then place a bricklayer and a bakery ready for the first harvest. As soon as the fir...

I figured the food mentioned is the food they need to eat, but since food is also currencies, they want some to shop for too. elite workers want to buy more stuff than brick-workers and soldiers does and will taken even more. Atleast that is how I think its working. If you only provide the minimum a...

Placing big pyramids

In Pharaoh, when placing big monuments you could press the M key to hold the monument still, while you moved your camera around to check if you was happy with the placement since you couldn't see the whole site in one shot. you could then either click again to place the monument or press M to releas...

I REALLY, REALLY hope there will be a boxed version where I can get the manual in paper, and I gladly pay for it. I guess most of those who wants a boxed version is 25-30+, they got the money to pay extra for the physical copy, and most of them will gladly put out the extra money to get one. The cit...

Really? I know the nobles are more inclined to pay their taxes if they are happy, but if a scribe spend half the peret season going to a party that won't increase the crops he is counting. And I never seen any difference in how effective someone works depending on how happy they are. They seem to go...

Special luxuary goods

Is there a benefit from importing things llike copper, gold and stuff for your luxuary shopkeepers to use and importing thigns like insence and monkeys for the elite? Does it have any effect of the game? I know in some scenarios you have to, but I never heard a noble complaining about the quality of...

While we're on the subject(neko thread I know). Assuming prestige is not a problem, how many educated workers can you have in a city? Is there a max? Wandering priests/Shrines

I just picked up this game again after not playing for a long time, and I remeber one thing that was a problem when I played earlier. When you need to quarry stone/balt/gems etc these location tends to be far away from your main city, so far that the overseers spend more time walking back and forth ...

Havent read through the whole post so don't know if it has been suggested yet, but have you tried Paradoxes games?
