Map Size

I don't know about you all, but I love big map to work with. You have more options as to where to put your city, and you can go big or stay small. Little maps, where even a modest city comes up close to the map edge, make me feel claustrophobic.

It would add some "depth" to the game if such projects could be included. I agree that they should consume considerable resources and take quite some time to complete. I agree. It would be great to change the terrain to suit your purposes but it shouldn't be easy. The landscape adds so much charact...

Somewhere on another thread I posted thoughts on this topic...I agree that this is meant to be about building and managing a city or town primarily, but I have always enjoyed the strategy and excitment of invasions and battle. I think it would be a shame if that was missing from MM. Certainly if it'...

So many things to talk about here, and these thoughts are in no particular order... I'm in the "no market lady" camp - much prefer the Caesar IV method where the townfolk go to the market themselves. Presuming the game will cover numerous countries of the medieval era, will the music/architecture/acc...

At last I have it...a secret weapon that will stop any foe. If they don't drop dead from sheer terror, they will be stomped into chunky salsa. Gentlemen, ladies, I give you...GIANT LEGIONAIRES!!!! :D

Ah! I know I just posted, but I got some great lightning shots in Corinth...

1. Just before impact
2. HEY! CART-PUSHER! THIS IS JUPITER. DO I HAVE YOUR COMPLETE AND UNDIVIDED ATTENTION?

Hi there thaisteve, and welcome! Well, my biggest city thus far was Tingis, with the requsite population of 10,000. I included a pic of it. But I have to say, I generally don't try to break any population records (though it might be interesting some time... ) and there are folks here who ...

Wow, the pics are looking great! Cipher- loved your close up of the fountain with the view down the street. Seems like something I would try... :D Anyway, I've wrapped up all the military campaigns with Colonia Agripina, and here are some shots... 1. First snowfall 2. More Jupiter shrines. Right. Go...

Not too much to add on this topic, but I thought I'd post some pics of my run through Tingis - specifically the farms. I found this map had plenty of land for farming, but I had to be careful how far away the farms were, or the cartpushers couldn't get to granaries - sometimes a farm would have the ...

Thanks for the feedback, all. I like to think of myself as a CB with an eye towards design, but don't let it be said that I don't care about function or efficiency! I just like to make cities that I can imagine living in. I've never cared for making neighborhoods specific to plebes or equites - I li...

Success! Thought I'd share some pics with everyone, since you all helped me get over the dread of a city of 10,000  Plus, you kept that whole "not knowing you could run aquaducts through walls" thing on the DL... Anyway, here you have 'em... 1. The city, with some sculpture in the foreground 2....

Heard a couple that I liked just recently:

A wall guard says something to the effect of "I love this job. All of the dangers of the legion, but none of the respect."

And a physician saying "I'd recomend a good blood-letting but you seem to be bleeding pretty well already."

Wow, nice pics, gang! I have a better idea of how to proceed now, and it is due in large part to the photos...though not necessarily in the way you might imagine. Okay, I'm going to come clean here, and face the humiliation. As an accomplished CB, especially of the "pretty city" genre, you'd think I...

Hey all - I've reached Tingis, and for some reason have Builder's Block. Perhaps it's the 10,000 population requirement - which for a guy who keeps his cities small, neat and efficient - seems impossible! Maybe it's that map, what with it's tiny water supply. Who knows? Anyway, I thought I'd start a...

Success in Moguntiacum!

Despite invading Germans, disappearing engineers and a demanding Caesar, the city on the Rhine triumphed! I loved this map, and the city I built on it. One of my favorites so far! I had hoped to retire here, but it looks like his High and Mightiness has a need for me at Tingis, so off I go. :D Just ...

It looks like Moguntiacum will survive, and the Rhine river crossing will be defended. Thanks to all for the help and advice! I loaded the city up, and paused it, then tore down all engineer posts that didn't show a "next related figure". I immediately rebuilt them all, and lo and behold, engineers ...
