Also I cut your heightmap image out of your screenshots above, then saved it as a heightmap in my folder. I get a fine hill in game pics show with sliders max elevation, altitude, and smoothing. So I can't think you are doing anything wrong with making your image. I seem to vaguely recall though tha...

Looking at your ingame set up To make your hill bigger you need to adjust some of the "advanced" sliders try setting the 3rd slider elevation and 4th slider altitude sliders to maximum right hand setting (gives more extreme hills)? Assuming your game sliders are translations but in the same order as...

Here are some screens showing my own very flat island. The heightmap is flat colors with no blending, 512x512, tga 8 bit (greyscale) and looks like image 1. I then set up a new city and play around with settings and terrain like image 2 Then I found the city and start to play - image 3 For bumpier i...

From what I can tell testing different grey levels that when you water slider up, whatever is your darkest area will fill with water up to what ever is your lightest. Because I use dead black, mid grey, and pure white, the black fills first then the grey. I think there is something that allows you t...

Yes Black, 0. is lowest level (usually fills with water unless you push water slider to none in game) 128 is just above sea level (if water setting slider is about half way) white 255 is highest level You can adjust height variance and smoothness of transition with the sliders on the advanced tab So...

Yes, that's the one that Im using on this particular map, and it provides 600 power units, but for me it's not so much about the footprint but rather if we use a polluting powerplant than the amount of pollutants is too high for the amount of energy that the power plant affords us imo. The other od...

I think your problem is simply that you are trying to add a file that is not in a subfolder of the Data folder, the HeightMap folder resides at the same level as the Data folder and I think that is possibly where the game is choking. But if it is allowed then the xml file would look something like ...

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by that. If I have RandomMap.xml set to 2048 for the size of the maps, then surely the entire 512x512 map will get generated to the playing field right, OR are we stuck with never being able to create custom maps that are really larger than 256x256 and if so,...

well you still have to know labels and syntax. Their building example just is no help since all I wanted to do was upload a height map. I don't know why I need to create this tedious install thing. And it doesn't go in the data directory and their pdf does not give a full example so there are all th...

if you use the default settings for map size a height map is 512x512 but only the center square 256x256 is read as playable, the rest (borders of 128 wide) are horizon scenery that you see in game. You can change the default size up from 256x256 by changing the randommap.xml to read <Entry name="Map...

xml tool request

Ok I read the xml "how to" pdfs at the EA SCS site. In order to create packages to upload to the exchange you have to write an xml document. Right.........Their directions are as clear as mud to me LOL. Couldn't someone make a nice little tool that would write the xml file for us using like check bo...

yes, it seems this have your idea for the roads available. I'd actually like to get that separated out from the other changes. Trying to sort out which files those are. Since I don't want the reward monuments to set the theme. I do like the idea of changing some of the venue times as well. Might be ...

I found a hydrogen plant that has half the footprint of most the plants, 0 CO2 emissions, and gives 500 power for only 6000. It is in the show all sort but none of the theme sorts but if you want a lot of power cheap and no pollution...its available right at the start too. Cannot see why it is not l...

Thanks - plus I like the pick and choose method. Not sure I want my monuments to pre-set the theme - so this makes it easy to swap out.

Good stuff :)

Generally when modding games - modifying game files and reusing game textures is allowed - even encouraged. Especially as long as you only take credit for what part you did or added. Everyone with the game has these files already so there should not be any issue. If they tried to squelch this sort o...

Ok well I really really love Tilted Mills other games (especially COTN) and I enjoyed all the other Sims and Sim City games at least for a time ... So I went into this with an open mind and ready to give it a fair shake - didn't read the reviews to preconcieve... well OK - I actually wanted it to be...
