Re: CBC is closed.

I have made a copy of this site using httrack, which is online under http://www.villages-and-cities.de/ex...net/index.html including all the scenario files, forums and so on. Just in case someone is looking for ancient knowledge or one of the many scenarios. I just clicked on the link now but it do...

In addition to the ideas above there is City Building Games Wikia which might be a place where some of the content could be added. Also maybe any helpful game info can be posted here at Tilted mill and over at the Heavengames forums either as threads/posts and/or tutorial downloads. I also wanted to...

Updated the lists with the latest games and links - post or pm if you have any more :)

Villages and Cities, Caesaria and Grand Ages: Medieval seem to be the only ancient and medieval city builder games in progress at the moment.

Caesar III open-source remake crowdfunding

As posted at Heavengames here , "CaesarIA is an open source remake of a real time strategy game released by Impressions Games in 1998 — Caesar III." "CaesarIA aims to expand the possibilities of this classical city-building simulator and to add new features to the city life. Currently, the gam...

Keith Zizza - Tales of the Sun God music project on Kickstarter

From Heavengames.com : Hi Everyone, This is Keith Zizza, composer for Pharaoh, Zeus, Caesar IV, Lords of Magic, and Children of the Nile. I'm not sure where to put this post (and I certainly don't mean to spam the forum here), but I wanted to let everyone know that after many years of thought on the...

Longest running cities in the city building games?

Hi all, In this thread at Heavengames is an interesting discussion of long-running cities in the games and I thought I'd cross-post into this forum. You can read about and download some of the longest running cities in Caesar 3 and Pharaoh here . So asking the players in this forum - what are the lo...

Sounds like some cool ideas for new city builder games! I don't have any expert advice but maybe checking out other games already made and in the making could be inspirational to see what has already been and not been done as a comparison. You can find a list of various city builder games here , her...

Based on what I'm hearing from you all, I guess I got lucky. :) I don't have the game on my work computer, so I can't say which tracks are in the game and which aren't, but here's a list of the tracks on the CD I have, along with their lengths as determined by Windows Media player. I'll check when ...

Thanks Azeem, they've been added to the list. I just read about Banished here which looks cool.

This sounds interesting and got me thinking - it seems bigger maps with multiple cities either in the campaign menu or open play maybe wasn't done that much, if at all, in any old 2d city building game as well as some new 3d ones? In rts game series like Age of Empires, Command and Conquer, etc ther...

List of Fantasy and Sci-fi city building games

Hi, I searched for any threads with some info on these games but maybe didn't look thoroughly enough. I recall some people mentioning they would like to see a fantasy city builder games in the setting of Lord of the Rings/Elven High Fantasy/etc. So I thought I'd start a thread for those types of gam...

Hi guydamak, I'm also interested in seeing more modding capability in the city builder series. Mad Genius started a thread here about modding also in which some of what you say came up. As I mentioned in other posts on this subject, there's a lot of potential but the issue of finding a balance betwe...

Well my question is more about the core mechanism of this game, not how you are going to adapt to the terrain. What I tried to mean is that a city composed of housing block does not feel and look like a medieval city. They must revamp the whole housing concept so that it ends up giving an authentic...

I hate to be blunt, but if MM turned out to be a success commercially, it might not be in TM's best interests to provide a tool that gave the community to create other types of civilisation previously not touched upon by Impressions/Tilted Mill. I say this even as an avid supporter of their work. I...

Maybe williamHerm24 is a spammer? Either way I echo what others have said about repeating the same block design over and over again. I've been re-playing Caesar 3 through Emperor recently and noticed this can happen often on bigger maps. It would be interesting to see and experience more ...

I've also wondered about this, and some games such as Patrician 2 and 3 have seasonal weather effects for spring, summer, autumn and winter. For example the leaves change colors and fall from trees, it snows, there's fog; and your economy is also affected by some changes. You can see some screenshot...

Just wanted to share some random ideas that have crossed my mind if that's ok... In the original ancient city builder games there was the Palace/Administration building/Family Mansion/etc but we never saw inside it. Other merchant games such as Port Royale 2 have some info and animations when you cl...
