I was tempted by Anno 1404 on the same stand, but I didn't really like Anno 1701 - maybe next time. Anyone played it? Anno 1404 was a cool game. The thing with all "old" Anno games is that you have to get some exports going in order to make a profit. It's impossible to have a stable profit with jus...

This really is one of those occassions where I don't know whether to cry or laugh... Indeed. EA is getting really effective at killing great games. Let's hope this is not the permanent death of the Simcity franchise. I just wished there was a way for Maxis to buy itself off of EA and be a free deve...

In Pharaoh or Zeus, having to build almost a dozen warehouses just to store enough sandstone/marble to even start constructing certain monuments could be painful, and led to vast expanses of warehouses which frankly aren't that nice to look at, not to mention that keeping manageable and sustainable...

Anyway, for MM we are doing something similar but a bit different - there are different types of shops or "stalls", as well as a market that only deals with foods. But these don't need to be placed on a specific base like a plaza or market square or whatever, and yet, there are advantages to groupi...

Just adding one more ideia to this discussion. How about having some trade routes where instead of products being bought and sold for money, they would be exchanged for other products. For example, a trade route with a city located in the middle east could have that city buy pottery with money and e...

Trading is one of the most enjoyable (and some times challenging as well) parts of a CB game. I absolutetly love it. Having the trade networks change dinamically based on campaign events (political and/or military changes, plague, famine, storyline triggered changes, etc.) is absolute fantastic if d...

Markets, Trade and Distribution System.

I've been wondering what would be a good distribution system in the context of a medieval city. Would it be better to have market squares where you can place individual shops like in emperor and zeus? or market buildings like pharaoh or caesar? Perhaps having market squares with costumized shapes in...

There could be a mission requiring the player to found a city that was supposed to be a "walled city". The map would already have the foundation of the walls and gates (like the missions about building the great wall of china in emperor rotmk) and the player would have to build inside this footprint...

Service buildings requiring goods

Do you remember how in emperor rotmk there were some service buildings that required goods to function. There was a building that required paper (i think it was the tax collector, right?) and there was an actor's school or something that required silk. Why not having an herbalist building in medieva...

military industries.

Although I'm not certain if there's going to be any sort of military activities in the game it would be cool if we look at games like stronghold (1, 2 & 3) or settlers 6 - rise of an empire for types of goods and production chains. In terms of military equipment it would be cool to have different in...

Moddable game structures

Much has been said about some characteristics of city-building games. You know: - building repetition; - creation of new productions chains and resources; - modification of the game's menus. Be it Simcity, Caesar, Anno or other city-building games there are allways discussions about those areas. The...

In terms of walkers and the transportation systems I tend to feel there are 3 possible choices: 1 - The system used in CotN and Caesar 4 where the inhabitants go to the service buildings when they need to; 2 - The walkers from the service buildings (market ladies, prefects, education people, etc.) g...

Crop Fields

Hey there! It's good to see Tiltedmill working on a city-building game again. Do you remember Emperor - Rise of the Middle Kingdom? I really liked the farm system of that game. You know, the way you were supposed to place crop fields around the farm building. The way we could place different crops a...

What I would like to see in Caesar V? 1 - I would like to see the only thing that I liked about CivCity: Rome and that's the ability to build shops on the ground floor of insulae; 2 - I would like to have a social system like the one of CotN where you have social classes and people progress in live ...

before you say these things should have the certainty, until you exit the game you can not totally rely on the words of the developers, because that could make plans and then not maintain (for various reasons) ... It's funny to hear you saying to a software developer that he shouldn't rely on the w...

Provided that Monte Cristo just doesn't toss aside Cities XL shortly after release... MC has already said that Cities XL is the sequel to City Life, which means they haven't tossed aside City Life after it's release. If Cities XL gets good sales I seriously doubt they will toss it aside....
