Re: A Murder In Swenet - new scenario

I haven't finished this yet....real life has gotten in the way. As talented as you are, I hope something else is in the works.

You are absolutely right. I can't start the murder mystery for a few weeks, but I am looking forward to it.

Re: Magic Island - new scenario

I finished this morning. The island denizens were pretty neat, and the building terrain was challenging. For future reference, however, you may lose players if you get TOO obscure or complicated.

Re: Magic Island - new scenario

I hate to keep whining, but I am still having trouble. I've opened the leather and gold merchants, but I cannot find the "somewhere else" location for the khopeshes. I've punched everything I can think to punch on both shores. I also have both cult temples built (minus the statues, of cour...

Re: Magic Island - new scenario

I have moved all the files into the appropriate folders, but I am confused about the instruction to turn off the pop-ups. I cannot find a Settings folder in the CoN directory (I have the downloaded game from GOG). The Interface folders do not have a box for  "show pop-up messages". ...

Re: Ramses the Great - new scenario

Since I had only 14 nobles, I just added 16 more, but the lag time is excruciating. Still no win message, but it's obvious my computer won't handle that large a population. Yes, I had the required temples and cult temples; I even added a few temples, just in case I missed something. I didn't realize...

Re: Ramses the Great - new scenario

It's a wonderful scenario, but I've had glitches. 1) I built the Amun cult temple before being instructed to do so, and the scenario didn't recognize it, so I got a fail screen. 2) I didn't read "religious" festival and did the state holiday; fail screen - my fault. 3) When I tried to dele...

Re: Does anyone actually -lose- a game?

I switch between Pharaoh/Cleopatra and CoN because the former is more accurate historically, but I love the graphics on the latter. That being said, losing depends on the scenario, especially the ones created by users. I just played "Tyranny of the Gods" (one of the earliest) and lost BIG T...

Re: Steam crashes

Thanks, PCDania, for your reply. I had done that a couple of years ago, but on another computer. After checking this one, and I found I had forgotten that step. It's too soon to tell if this will work, but I'll let you know in a couple of weeks.

Steam crashes

Once a week Steam Store issues a list of current "deals". Every week this causes CoN to crash as it's trying to load. Steam support is a joke. Does anyone else have this problem? How do you resolve it?

Re: Buildings and their uses

Since we last spoke, I've been watching the quay on Tyranny of the Gods. You are right, some of the merchants just loiter around the quay; some do go to the merchant centers, but they are few. Some merchant ships dock at the quay, but they seem to prefer the barge landings. Not efficient, to say the...

RE: EXCHANGES....wouldn't that require dedicated scribes? Seems that would be counter-productive to tax revenue. Thanks for the super-quick response

Buildings and their uses

I've been revisiting some of the older user-created scenarios and noticed that apparently only "Tyranny of the Gods" used the quay, a building the designer must put in place. Any idea if it actually functions as a market place or as a barge landing? The other issue is the practicality of h...

I tried the first scenario, and ran out of time just as I was ready to launch the attack against Greece. I just won version 3.0, and you are correct: it is still very difficult. Great fun!

Floating Pyramid

Thank you so much, RJG. I really enjoyed playing your scenario, as evidenced by the incessant ranting with which I abused my computer. I'll certainly let you know how these work out.
