Re: Buying this, will it work with my box?

As I recall it, the enhanced edition was effectively a free patch that came out when TM bought the rights back to their own game (from Sega in Europe and whoever in USA). It fixed a few bugs, added the brickyard and removed the sun and moon. Saved games went in a Titled Mill subdirectory of Document...

It took 10 seconds googling to find this:

CivCity:Rome is on GOG

Mybe it's been there a while but I only just noticed it. This Roman citybuilder came out just before Caesar IV. It has its quirks and I don't think many people understood it fully at the time. But is fun to play and is quite realistic: People are individuals and work in specific places and live in c...

Re: Some medieval occupations

Pigs were butchered in London in a area called a "shambles", which meant a place of slaughter or destruction in those times. York still has its Shambles - no butchers' shops there now - all tourist traps - but it does give a general idea of a medieval street. You can wander down it on str...

Why Don't TM Suspend new registrations

The forum has a serious spam problem. Every day I look it's filled with nothing but spam. Presumably Keith gets rid of it, but it is back again the next day. Why don't you suspend new member registration for the time being? Then no more spam hopefully. It's tough on new members, but do you really wa...

Re: Steam version

I'm sorry this doesn't help you with your Steam purchase... but I recently bought CotN complete from Gog.com for £6-99 (around $10) and it seems to work OK on Windows 10 run as administrator. Sterling price seems to have gone up a little since then. If you decide to spend more money and try this may...

Re: playing olc CBs again

Finding Emperor in French is almost impossible. That's why I eventually bought it second-hand in English. It's as if they didn't sell it in French. Too bad then. I can't even find just the instruction manual in French. If anyone has it, It would help. Thanks. This is a very late reply. If you...

Re: Does anyone actually -lose- a game?

It's been a long time since I played CotN. I have a vague memory from 10 years back that you can lose if you mess up the start, probably if pharaoh and the nobles hate it so much they decide to leave the nome, but it is going to take someone who has played a lot more recently to confirm this. On the...

Yes the wiki is down for me too...

Try the Wayback Machine - Use link and on calendar menu select one of the highlighted dates, say 23rd Aug 2013 - it won't have changed much, if at all.

Re: Hello!

Hi Nile Online is a long game. It is also a huge waste of a person's time (personal opinion, others may disagree). The social media aspect General/Trade wall may keep you interested. Study the wiki, it will answer most questions. 1) Goods are stored in a warehouse. Capacity increases with upgrades. ...

Re: Broken Game

Sorry Sandra, I've never experienced anything like you describe and therefore in my experience the game is not broken. Not perfect but not broken. The closest to chaos I've noted is during the earthquake in whichever scenarios they were in and that was temporary, and for other people but not for me,...

Re: Broken Game

I think you are being a bit hard on the game. I've played all the military scenarios on hard and a seriously difficult military contest on CBC, and the Military Tutorial available in the custom scenarios on the forum, and got through them all. (Several years ago now though) I agree that manual contr...

I hope all is well now. I make sure they have easy access to shops, temples shrines and papyrus etc. If you can do that and not have them too far away from the floodplain then that should be OK. it's a compromise, just like RL. The farms stretch out for some distance on the floodplain anyway so scri...

Check out some of the user scenarios.

When people play them, they often post a victory screen and one or two screenshots.
Some screenies give a pretty good idea of the players' layouts.

BTW, in general, user scenarios are more fun than the campaign scenarios - and there are a lot of them.
