Re: What are you playing now?

Interesting. Did uou write all new code for your C3 mod or just make modiications? Can you explain in a bit more detail the thoughts behind your changes, such as zone farming?

The need for smarter walkers needs no explanation. :)

Re: What are you playing now?

I took a quick look a t SM just now and it seems kind of interesting although there have been many similar games to in the past. How does the game play strike you, is it monotonous or does it keep you engaged the whole time you play it. Some game seem to get bogged down in repetitive steps that don'...

What are you playing now?

Here's a chance to tell about your latest gaming love or loves and tell about anything new or old that are playing now. I still have Children of the Nile loaded up and ready to run, along with Caesar IV. I'm still playing (solo, instead of online) World in Conflict, which I helped beta test back in ...

Re: My one wish for this game...

The forum remains open for all that wish to partake. I've been trying to encourage some old registered members to visit us here again. New registers remain shutdown for now. I know that is a major hurdle for those just starting out with Cotn, but it remains necessary for now.

Re: My one wish for this game...

I only wish that TM would give us something new or a redo of Cotn with even better graphics than before and/or some new features. The likely-hood of that happening anytime in the foreseeable future looks rather dim.

Still here. Not sure what Jeff has planned for the forum. No reply to message sent last week. Registrations have been disabled for over a year due to bot accounts spamming the board and low activity.

Re: Objects and units

There is no way to specify a search for a specific type of commander. All you can do is double click on any one of the existing commander homes in your city ad that should highlight them all. That makes them easier to spot on the city map where you can then check each one to see what type of command...

Re: CotN keeps crashing

Just an update... Turns out, CotN crashing was the least of my problems. This continued to a point where booting was no longer possible. Just had the PC-ambulance here, and my computer is now in the hospital :( Hard drive mbr is history. Was this the cause of the CotN problem? Not sure. If you have...

Re: Anyone still here?

I'm sure others will join in if they know someone is here talking about the game. Be sure to let your friends know. If they don't have an account already, they won't be able to post, since spammers have forced us to turn off registration to keep the garbage off the board. Their bots are still active...

Re: Anyone still here?

I don't have SCS myself, but rather the Immortal Cities line and Caesar IV. I'm here every day. I help maintain the board for Jeff, the board administrator. Many people just "check in" but don't post anything new nowadays. The best way to get more interested people to post is to start a co...

Re: screen resolution

I had problems clicking on things at highest resolution settings too. I would have find a 'hot spot' to click on somewhere near the thing I wanted to click on to get it to work if at all. I don't have that problem at the 1440 x 900 setting.

Re: screen resolution

It has been a problem. Some games that were released before widescreen monitors became common have had problems with higher resolution settings. I had problem opening CotN myself last week. It never gave me a problem before and the settings I've been using remained unchanged. The game started crashi...

Re: campaigns ?????????????

I think another reason you might not be seeing those downloaded campaign files is that they're perhaps not Alexandria-compatible. I think it hides scenarios and campaigns made in the earlier version, but I don't recall. Keith might remember better than I do. As I recall, only the older version of t...

Re: @!*#@! *@!!!!!!!

I guess you could somehow add a notice in the historical story of the menu that tells the user to turn popups back on if they want guidance through the tutorial. It will be up to the player to read through the instructions before playing in that case and no on to blame but himself if he doesn't.

Re: campaigns ?????????????

The Alexandria extension to the game only sold via STEAM. When Installed it moved all the game files used by the now STEAM version of the game to a new subfolder for Children of the Nile created in a folder named Steam. You have to put any files you want to use in the Alexandria version of CotN into...

Re: @!*#@! *@!!!!!!!

So I, and any other player can turn that off? Oh that is great news, thank you so much Keith, I'll get right on that. But, I wonder, will that turn off ALL 'significant' messages? Including the scenario specific? I'll have to test that right now. EDIT: Tested, and it works like a charm! You are a s...
