first off: Congradulations! Is the game worth all the trouble? second off: what is HKCR\Record key? and how do I allow full access for the Administrator? HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT is a registry hive just like HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. For simplicity's sake, they're usually just refered to by the four letter desi...

Holy Crap! It worked! I actually loaded a level for the first time ever! Here's what I did (probably overkill): Set the HKCR\Record key to allow full access for Administrator. Log off / log on Uninstall .NET 2.0, Caesar IV. Restart. Reinstall both of those. Restart. I gotta throw this bit in to vent...

It's been my experience that running either filemon or regmon with Caesar IV sets off the copyright protection software (ala "security module can't load").

Have you guys had this problem also? Or is it just me having that problem?

I tried running the demo scenario in Caesar IV (full version), but same error.

Haven't tried troubleshooting the demo at all yet, but it gives a COM error when I try to run the scenario (and sometimes upon loading).

OK, tried the whole registry scan idea with no luck. Also tried different difficulty levels (which I hadn't tried before). Watched the power consumption levels this time. The error seems to occur before any 3D rendering processes start. Those tend to be evidenced by a 50 watt increase in power draw ...

FYI: There's a thread for this here: http://www.tiltedmill.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10195 No answer in sight yet. I'm told that Tilted Mill is indeed monitoring this board while they work on the various issues people are having though. Hopefully a fix is forthcoming for this.

Looks like you've got a system way faster than what the game needs. If you've got the same invalid save game error, that doesn't help you much though. I think we're going to have to look deeper if we want to find any similarities between our systems that might cause this. There's got to be something...

I can't load the save game either, but I figure it can't hurt to try the scenario files while we're waiting for something to happen. There's still some small hope I think. It could possibly reference the scenario files when loading the save game (I can hope right). Hard to tell what it's doing since...

Would it also be possible for someone to post or email the following: All files names Arretium*.* from .\Caesar IV\Data\Scenarios There are 8 of them. They can be zipped down to around 3.1MB. If you've got a working version, this would prove whether or not it's a bad batch of CDs or something the ga...

Did my last bit of due diligence for the night. Tried the read only thing with no luck. Then on a whim I tried renaming the scenario files for a different map to Arretium. It worked insofar as the game thought it was the other map and tried loading it. Then it failed just like all other attempts. In...

OK, finally got back into the game. Just needed yet one more restart... I've now uninstalled/reinstalled the game with both VS and Defender set to not do real-time scanning. Same problem occurs. Start the campaign and BOOM while loading Arretium, Invalid Save Game error. It'd be nice if it would at ...

Installed with an admin account, running with the same account. Haven't tried running/installing with Windows Defender disabled. I did try an install and run with VS disabled with no luck. Of course, if I can't get it past the security module problem, I'll never get to try this out. If I can, I'll a...

Same problem with invalid save games

Same problem here, but with pretty new hardware/drivers. I applied the 1.1 patch before starting the game the first time. I've also tried loading the first custom scenario with similar results. I've tried turning off Autosave just for kicks, but no luck. Uninstalled (and deleted game folder) then re...
