I've been playing the public alpha of Planet Explorers, a voxel-based sandbox/rpg game. Lot of fun. I pledged to it on Kickstarter (they just made funding goal today, yay). Never got into Minecraft (even the newer versions) but lovin' Planet Explorers. It's still early and rough, but high hopes I'll...

Haven't been playing much lately (not in a gaming mood). But my husband and I still play Borderlands 2 a fair amount. It's the only game/series he likes, so...I play. Loved BL1 and the first one is pretty good too. Much better for co-op play at least. We have a lot of fun with it. Other than that .....

Oh my. I have oodles. Most of them, however, I haven't played much or haven't touched in months. But with today's giant HDD's, I have a tendency to rarely uninstall games, so most games installed since my last O/S install are still there, "just in case". :p Don't spend as much time gaming as I used ...

I'm probably one of the few people in the world who actually had fun with those old market ladies. Don't get me wrong, they were also annoying (at least before roadblocks) but at the same time, I found them interesting to gameplay. Yes, it could be layout-limiting, but it was also a challenge, part ...

So no one here has tried this game? I'm surprised?
I was thinking of buying it but am not sure if it's more RTS or more city builder...I'd prefer the latter...downloading a demo now...

I still play it now and then. Quick and easy. But it does become repetitive before too long so replay value isn't super-high for me. :)

Check again. Usually after the first start, you get a full complement of resolutions. If you are still having problems, make sure your video drivers are updated. Also, you can just go to a non-full screen res, and drag it to any size if you like, though you get better performance on most machines, ...

I'm still using XP, don't have dx10...and an older card. But it does support widescreen resolutions in everything else w/no problems at all, just not w/Orc Lords. Strange.

I'll be buying my own SuperDuperComputer Win7/64 in a couple months or so. Wonder what'll happen then. :D

Hmm...the copy of Orc Lords that I bought from Gamestop a few days ago does not show widescreen resolution options under Settings.

I just bought my copy for $10 there, got the last one...and.not because I'm that cheap, but because I didn't realize this game existed until this week. Also, I wanted the CD copy. I haven't been keeping up with gaming news much at all the past couple years... And yes, I'm liking Hinterlands quite a ...

I dunno ... I can understand a 'form' for gathering information. I know some people are good about posting well-thought out details about their issue/systems, but most aren't. I saw that thread in the other forum and Violet kept asking for info in a certain way, and many respondants ignored it in fa...

Yeah, the money aspect doesn't bother me ... but I did find it interesting, and wondered if it was happening for other people. I also noticed that while the game is paused, the game messages still pop up - like "you reached this number, you can now build this building!" - making me wonder if time is...

Sims workplace placement not permanent?

I've been noticing that whenver I place new houses and workplaces all at once - that is, I pause the game, place all desired buildings, then unpause - there's a loss of almost all my 'daily' income for the day I placed them. For instance, if my daily income is around $18,000, and I put down houses/w...

Agreed. The bigger the city, the more sprawled out it tends to become - at least if you're a lazy planner like myself - and the more likely the Sims in certain assigned workplaces won't be able to reach desired venues before they close. They might be able to reach one, but then the next one they 'de...

I've noticed that if you have streets, Sims will walk out of their way to get to a subway station if it's placed, say, across the street from their 'home' building. For instance, you put the subway on the left side of a street. The Sims in the homes on the right side will walk up the street (or down...

You already posted in the tech help area, cross-posting in another thread isn't neccesary.

I tried putting in another possible solution in your original thread. Don't know if it'll work, but you can try it.

There might be another way - I just mentioned the one sure-fire way. :) I don't remember the game taking that long to install ... maybe 7-10 minutes. I'd guess you accidentally set a resolution that your monitor doesn't support, or something akin to that? I'm not sure how to go about getting around ...

I think this is a part of the equation that has been left out. I think that's a bit of what I was trying to say by mentioning that retailers are 'pushing' pcgames off the shelves. Retailers obviously want to sell whatever they think sells the fastest/most, and at the moment, consoles are it and PC-...

I pretty much agree with Fomar. There can be 'challenges' - not so much as an aspect of the gameplay itself ala your changing buildings, but as self-made goals. ie, the rogue Sim aspect of the game can add make things more challenging, but they aren't an unavoidable roadblock in the game to make lif...
