What rules have I made? You don't want people to chat on trade wall. What you did was not talking about trades. Maybe you didn't "make" the rule(s), but you are asking people for that and making them uncomfortable. Just so you know... if some people are ignoring you on the Trade Wall (and that's wh...

Good stuff! :D

BTW, I was referring to the humorous side of his post. I found it quite entertaining. :-)

How it works

What Don Irvine posted is: Small 5 3 2 Medium 8 5 3 Large 12 8 4 My findings are: Small 5 3 2 (1) Medium 8 6 3 (2) Large 12 7 4 So, it's possible the numbers are not absolute (as in, it could be 5.5 for medium gift given the second time) . Numbers in parenthesis are numbers I've encountered another ...

Re: Security. I had an original wall around the housing area, then I added a wall around *all* of my city so that all important buildings (and all unimportant buildings) are inside the walls. I'm confident that I don't have too many towers relative to the other buildings, and I don't have towers ch...

Happened to me

I believe this problem happened to me as well. I don't remember what was my solution. It was either execute and rebuild engineers or, what I think is that likelier happened is that I've quit the game and reloaded the last saved game.

So you had a problem with the web site , not with the game. I didn't realise that. :-) I am glad my response was still helpful, then. - Pet...

I haven't actually explored this, but, I believe, you also need entertainment. The plebs don't need goods per se, all they need is food and some water. Without fountain and basic goods, they don't grow, so the insulae stay small, but they can be reasonably happy (okay, for the most part they also ne...

Also note that, at least in Arena, but I believe this applies to Empire as well, what counts is average of last three months. Also, the immigrants arrive "one at a time", so to add 15000 more people takes several months, if not years - yes, you could pause the game, "drop" extra 215 Insulae and then...

Math and some rambling

1156 Plebes = 25.13 Prefect/Engineer Pairs. Total population is 6590. ...so that means you have 12 villages/estates/mansions? :-) Also, my new theory is that you need to grow culture (entertainment) as well. It could be a generic "figure speech" that's played unconditionally, but when I clicked on ...

Alt-tab is disabled in online scenarios in patch 1.2. It's not a bug, and the decision to disable alt-tab wasn't made because of a bug; it helps to prevent some methods of cheating. Well, it works on my computer (with the comments I made in my previous post). I don't think my computer setup is any ...

Alt-Tab works

Alt-Tab works... as in, I was able to switch to other running applications. However, upon switching back I am either dumped to Main Menu with "You have been disconnected. Task switching during competitive play is prohibited." or I can experience crash (Runtime Error! R6025 - pure virtual function ca...

Yes, you can use the windowed mode in a online game as my image above confirms. I would suspect that even if ATL+TAB was somehow disallowed in the new patch, that the WINDOWS key on your keyboard would get you to your desktop at any time regardless of the software restrictions. I didn't phrase it t...

Most of the time I play in a windowed mode, but I'm not on a laptop. I have a Dell Dimension XPS P4 3Ghz tower system. I run a 17 inch monitor, and use a 1024x768 native desktop resolution, and use the windowed mode so i can get to my desktop without having to ATL+TAB out of the game. Does the game...

Okay, thank you. I tried to do that again. First Antiochia, second Caesarea, neither of them crashed. Hmm, must be something specific, because this crash has happened to me more than once. I'll see whether I can narrow it down. Keith, do you always play in window mode? Since both MarkDuffy and I can...

I don't know whether you noticed, but you still didn't answer my question. Have you actually tried restarting an online Arena game? It just may be a problem with the game and not my system. I believe it was Caesarea that was crashing. You should be able to see that by launching the game, and immedia...

Attach a copy of your dxdiag.txt file. You may have a problem with the physical RAM on your system, or a virus, or just some conflicting software eating up the memory. Those are just rough guesses. I don't think I need that, but just to satisfy your curiosity. Did you try this on your own? Anyway.....

Isis Crostus: You can take a screen shot, just like I did in the thread labelled [thread=12299]Application error: instruction referencing a memory[/thread]. To take a screen shot of a window, click on the window (to get its focus) and then press Ctrl-PrintScreen. Open an image editor (like Paint) an...
