With which posts/parts EJ?! Lannes: A common denominator yes, but not quite with you by examples. For instance trading "posts" if I may should be within the city map AND you should see the goods being taken and/or delivered. As to the military, some battles MAY be fought within the city as well, so...

Please TM, consider our ideas! :D I hope they do, but perhaps we should try give those ideas a bit more impetus by finding some sort of "common denominator" that most of us agree on. Who would agree, for instance that: (1) the maps on which you build the city in previous city builders are strictly ...

Sorry...I am a new poster and this is my first post...excuse me if I am violating any rules. I had a suggestion and you know, it's always been at the back of my mind. Could Caesar IV be a mixture of Caesar II and III as in a Caesar III themed city but with a province outside the city? Sorry if the ...

I'm afraid none of that will happen. These things were more or less present in CII, but in CIII the developers decided to focus entirely on the city building aspect and give much less attention to the world beyond the city gates. I'd be surprised if the developers of CIV would go back to a concept t...

I never owned nor played CI or II in my life, however I heard the system was pretty neat. Consider yourself fortunate. If you had, you might be wondering to this day "what could have been" if CII's superior map concept had been maintained for the rest of the series. I mean, to go from multi resolut...

It would be good if we could take the initiative and send our troops out (and yes, command them) to meet an oncoming army before it reaches the city... You do realise that was a feature of C2 that was not carried over to C3? "Fighting invaders on the streets of your city" was actually on CIII's lis...

Or "Crown of the North" (by paradox). One of those things. Just like whenever I see the abbreviation LOTR I think "Lords of the Realm" when in all probability it refers to "Lord of the Rings".

Just wanted to say that the above may very well be the best phrased argumentation I've seen so far on this topic. Though I agree with the criticism in a wider context, as a critique of a certain intellectual climate, I don't think that arguments in favour of inclusion of slavery in C4 should depend...

How will the campaign work in C4? Like C3 or C2? I liked the C2 style. I hope it will be a bit of both. I mean, in CII you had a lot of choice between assignments that weren't all that specific. That made building cities a bit of a routine in the end. I don't know about you, but eventually I had an...

yeah i think that going on with slave markets is a bit too far. besides that would be another thing we would have to worry about. it would be simpler to carry over the cotn concept of servants. How about including slavery in such a way that it encourages the player to diminish their city's dependen...

I got it when it came out, motivated by a mixture of curiosity about the new setup and loyalty to the genre. I also got Rome Total War around that time (turn based strategy/real time tactics). As a genre I prefer CotN, but I prefer Rome over Egypt and that turned out to be more important in the end....

Came across this site with plenty of pictures of Rome. It also has some of the interior of the Curia, and a short history.

Lets assume for a moment that tm decides to incorperate servi into the game. how do you suppose they would operate. It's quite evident they can't be treated like citizens. Servii would not have the freedom to choose their occupation and residence and would have limited freedom of movement. They wou...

Nice quiz. Did it 3 times with an average score of around 9. Only thing I had a problem with is that I kept expecting option B below A instead of to the right of it. As a result I typed in the wrong answer on a couple of occasions (OTOH, by the 3rd time I got some right that I missed the first time)...

IIRC Europa Universalis had black slaves as a trade resource. It's got an E rating (everyone) in Europe and is noted only to have "mild violence". Don't know about its rating elsewhere though.

I think there should be slaves in C4. There really doesn't seem to be any good argument for not having them. I suspect most sensitivities concern the racist motivation slavery has had in our recent past. I can imagine people would object against having to assume the role of a racist ruler. Slavery i...

Or rather they kept the industries that depended on slavery and had free citizens working in them instead

This is a straightforward poll about your attitude towards how 'slaves' should be represented in Caesar IV. I voted for calling them "servi". However, that does not mean I think they should be put in as just another class of citizen. I think they should either be included as a "commodity/resource" ...
