Well, I guess I can handle the situation for now. :) It would be dumb if the effects were permanent, because your city's workplaces would always produce less money than meant to be. Once your city hits a certain size, a lot of workplaces will regularly produce less income than listed, because worke...

It would appear that some of the recommended professions for each sign actually contradict some of the character traits attribruted to that sign. If you pick out the bits and pieces that might coincidentally apply to you, astrology may be perceived to be remarkably accurate. However, if you just pic...

The problem with automatic content updates is that not everyone acquires the game at the same time, plays at the same skill level, utilizes the winning strategy, or even desires to play the game exactly the same way as other players. I would prefer a game that "learns" how a particular player behave...

The Way I think we were intended to play: Pick a theme and make a dystopian or utopian perfect society. You can also build down the middle, generating a society with manageable social problems, such as crime, health-care shortages, rush-hour traffic, etc. Extremism is optional. You could, for examp...

Form is what makes a city. Culture is what makes a society. The best criticism I've seen about SCS is that it's misnamed. It is not a city builder. It is a society builder. The different societies do have very different cultures, and sim behavior reflects that. You might also say that form is a par...

No new buildings are necessary, unless one is obsessed with form over function. The exact functionality of each building depends upon its precise location, and even its orientation, relative to other buildings, by altering the number of steps it takes for a sim to travel from one locale to another, ...

Hmmm.... It's a work in progress and not exactly PG rated (the residents of the spiritual commune of Stone Hill consider sex to be a sacred form of prayer).

I doubt it would be appropriate to post an R rated story in this venue. :(

I am still playing SCS, in strategic mode, building cities and... I am using the game as a random character/event/location generator for a story I am writing. SCS generates sims with names and jobs and places they like to visit, so it is perfect for that purpose. Some prefer to ride bicycles,...

I've never understood the whole "developer/publisher" relationship thing. I mean the publishers pay the developers to write the game, but then they have to "pay" the developers to put out patches to fix the coding that the developers put out in the first place. I would have assumed that ...

Just one more suggestion here. There are significant differences in the way buidlings interact with each other between patch 4 and patch 5. You didn't mention if you were trying to run a saved game of an older city or not, but that could be a problem, if not the problem.

I don't remember specifically but one way to find out is to start a new city that has a good flat spot on it and lay a stretch of road down. Then start plopping objects of only one energy type until the road changes. It's been awhile so I'm probably wrong, but the number 160 being a threshold for s...

Theme changes occur in gradual steps, and the first phase is often unstable as the society slips between multiple themes. The background music is the best first indicator of the direction in which your society is going. At any point, you can make decisions that alter that course, by placing building...

Adjust the slider under advanced settings when generating the map, and make it about 95% water.

Just don't expect to be able to build much on it. :)
