New game about building Roman Aquaducts

I have no idea if Aqua Romana is a good game or not. But the theme, building the Roman Aquaducts, makes it one to watch the reviews on.

Kinda hard to go back to other RTS now

I actually like that the battles in CotN happen far far away from your city. I'm looking at previews of AoE3 now, and the body count is pretty disturbing. It definately suffers from the "stupid guys keep fighting to the death even when clearly in a hopeless situation" problem. Formations in Napoleon...

doesn't microwave well.

Pizza just doesn't microwave well.

Lean Cuisine. Available nationwide no matter how bad the local restaurants. Theoretically nutritionally balanced. Less chance of scurvy with exclusive consumption.

Microwavable.

Spielberg just cliches himself anymore. Every film he makes has the "camera stuck in the face of an actor reacting to the big thing in the movie which is somewhere off screen" He's been doing this since Jaws back in 1975. If you watch the trailer, what do you see? Yet another dumb Spielberg reaction...

Renaissance

A different sort of theme would be Renaissance. Age of Renaissance is interesting with the Venice/Genoa trade empires. Goal is not acquiring territory, but trade routes and legal rights to buy/sell/build certain products. It's an interesting period where owning lots of land makes you poor but owning...

Road advantages

Paved roads with engineered drainage are a whole different level of investment. Then levelling out bumps and hills allows motorized travel faster than 12mph --not a concern for anything TM has made so far. Banking of curves is a requirement around 35mph, and to get today's modern 75mph takes even mo...

>Looks like a direct ripoff of the old "Diplomacy" or "Risk" games. It is an empire builder, yes. (Which most people here are fans of) But those titles are out of date by 30 years. Boardgames have improved a lot since then. Some of the differences: Not an American style elimination game. The goal is...

Finally, Struggle of Empires available in the US

Martin Wallace's Struggle of Empires is getting very good reviews so far. It plays 3-7 players in an evening while being true to the 18th century colonialism period. timewellspent.org, gamefest.com and bouldergames.com all finally started getting it in stock as of last week. The rules are available ...

Where terrain is easy to cross (ie flat and level) roads don't make much of a difference and walkers will commonly even cut corners along our orderly roads. The main difference is over rocky terrain and up steep hills. Here paths and roads both make a big difference. No one's studied paths vs roads ...

Never been interested in miniatures. But SST is also being done as a tabletop game for those of that bent. Here's some early artwork. Seems like SST is really being revived this year. If you haven't seen the DVD, get it. The Director's comments track where he shoots back at the critics is pretty ama...
