Aw, shucks.

Oh, and to answer the other question asked in this thread, one-to-one IM with another pre-alpha tester is totally okay with us. Go for it, and thanks for helping each other out!

what connects to the what for aqueducts, fountains and pump houses? - Your water network starts with a pumphouse. They need to be placed near a body of water, and there must be plebian labor in the city to staff them. Unlike other workplaces, pumphouses (and reservoirs) don't require road access to...

Thanks.

I've run through these steps and didn't reproduce the issue. I'd try deleting your CaesarIV.ini file and seeing if that helps before re-installing.

Fix for "Invalid tag-point ID" crash when a Medium Insula evolves

[edit: You won't need to follow these instructions anymore after the 13.38 patch.] Following these instructions should stop the game from crashing when your insulae evolve from Medium to Large: 1) Unzip the attached archive. 2) Take the resulting file "C4BE_Pleb_3_quad_1_B.gr2" (make sure you have t...

Ah, another thing: I suppose it's not possible to use older save games? Save games from 13.11 should generally work (though there may be cases where something is already wrong with the save and loading it in 13.28 doesn't fix the issue. For example, if you have an old save from a scenario with a re...

Thanks! We're aware of the olive farm trouble. It'll show up a little differently on nVidia cards, as a partially invisible building or one with a flickering shadow. Sorry that I missed it on the known issues list.

Thanks!

Your save isn't crashing in our current, internal build, so hopefully this will still be fixed in the next version we send you.

Houses should show wells in the lower-right panel when you select them if they last fetched well water. If they have fountain water, they should get a green fountain there, and if they have no water of any sort, a red fountain.

Like earlier city-builders, not everything is available in every scenario. At this point, we haven't always disabled the buildings you can't use.

Those houses are vacant -- after somebody moves in, they'll get thirsty and go get some :)

vic_4 wrote:Where should be read the game speed?

About two-thirds down the left side of the screen, in black text, after you've used + or - to change the current speed. (We know it's hard to read, and that will change).

That's right. The good news is that no-one will die of disease yet.

A variable speed setting would be great. Poof, your wish is granted! You can use the keyboard +/- keys to adjust the game speed, from half regular speed to 4.5x. When you use those keys, there will be a text indication of what the current speed is (might be hard to read in this build). I also spott...

Welcome, Will, glad to have you! Your name rings a bell, though not in connection with SSS, but I can't place it. Were you working for other studios before? Stainless was my first game industry gig. I share my name with a singer/songwriter who's a multiple Grammy winner and the first two-thirds of ...

Had two hard lockups but not able to reproduce them  Lock up 1 in menu when trying to access "game in progress". Lock up 2 in M12 scenario I trying to add another insula. "Game in progress" is an empty file in there by mistake, so you'll crash any time you try to load it. A tip or two for deal...

When I change some of the settings, they are reset as previously by themselves Some checkboxes (Hi-Res Filter, Lighting, Textures, and "(future checkbox)") don't keep their state. That's because they don't do anything at the moment. You might also see the game resolution setting not remembering whe...

Hi, all, Thanks for the warm welcome! Like Lenny, I came over from Stainless Steel Studios when it shut down. Someone asked what sort of games we play: I enjoy games with a distinctive style, and preferably a sense of humour (part of why I'm so excited to be working with the folks at the Mill!). Rec...
