I don't know of a command line parameter for that, no.

I just hit ESC several times (or left-click) in rapid succession to get past those opening thingamajigs. Takes a couple seconds. :)

At least in smaller cities, I've been able to skip 'kids' venues entirely, and haven't noticed any appreciable drop in happiness. All it means is I don't see many children walking the roads. So I'm not sure they're 'neccesary' - but whether they're more effcient in some way, to use in combo, I have ...

Too many subways create a 'ghost' town, assuming you place enough of them around. I also noticed that occasionally Sim happiness seems to falter just a little, as subway stations placed w/out thought sometimes means mass transit ends up taking longer than if they had driven directly, so they occasio...

Personally, I think that utilities, public buildings, roads, and decorations have maintenance costs. That would work too ... I honestly don't really care which buildings have running costs - reality just isn't my thing :) - but do like the idea that at least some would. Preferrably ones that people...

I recall problems with the autosave kicking in on C4 pre-patch, It kinda sounds like the issue I personally had might not be the same as others are experiencing, since I don't have any 'random hangs', so don't know if this relates ... but I do know that since I turned auto-save off, I haven't had t...

Like the others said, you don't need net access ... but if you're like me and find the auto-connect/launcher annoying most of the time (since I'm not playing on-line), I discovered you can bypass it. R-click on the shortcut, choose properties, and in the target bar, after what's already there, inser...

This should reduce all events that add cash to the treasury by .5. By .5 of what? Percent? Let us know when you figure that out? This would be nice to me, since I think cash is way too easy to collect - and I think I can at least manage to change one line in the xml file, haha, assuming doing it in...

I would make the venues and decorations incure a periodic expense so it costs money to have those things in your town countering the income workplaces make. I think that's a fantastic idea. :) Some cash being 'leeched' out in such a manner would serve the same purpose as reducing the percentage of ...

I often buy the Guide at the same time I buy a game - because I too remember the days of the thick 'real' game-manual and miss them; especially for games like these that have so much stat/info. I looked for it when I bought Societies, but the store didn't have any at the time. :( Nice to know that w...

Suggestion: A difficulty level past "Challenging"

Short version: I'd like another difficulty level - or some other optional option such as less 'starting cash' - that would restrict income-flow, to be added to the game. Long-winded version: Ok, I think most people who've played the game so far would agree that it's fairly easy to make cash. With m...

At some point in my captialist value city test-run, my bridges across the water turned into almost Golden-Gate Bridge style arches ... or whatever you call those things.

Which made me wish there was a paint tool in the game that would let me paint them orange instead of blue. :D

If you have to create your own challenges, this is yet another problem with the game. I don't think I'd agree with that statement, and the statement kind of puncuates my point about how, perhaps, the tradition of most games has led many players to view self-made challenge as some kind of handicap. ...

I agree with a lot of your points about the basic gameplay of the game. Also about your comments regarding making cash, even on Challenging. I was going to make a post on that topic after I'd played a bit more, but didn't have time to play yesterday. I'm going to have to play with specific buildings...

What Gallia said.

Since, generally speaking, there's no problem in terms of space to put them - nor with earning the cash to plop more down - I have no problem with the ratios, or the lack of 'reality.'

Julia, you are producing 87 Knowledge, but have a surplus (aren't using/is available for use) 80 Knowledge. Thus, you're only using 7 of your total of 87 available.

In effect, you want to subtract the upper (green) number from the lower number to find out how much you're 'using'.

The manual says the eyedropper icon (next to the bulldozer) fullfills this function. I haven't tried it myself personally, tho. Edit: Oh wait - I'm sorry. It won't scroll thru the multiple colors/versions of the same farmhouse - it just duplicates the building you click on, so you can place a lot of...

I think most people who like the game are probably busy actually playing it. :D I personally am not good at describing what I "like" about a game, so you won't get much beyond "I like it" from me, either. But I will say - the first few hours I felt ambivalent. The next few hours I thought it was ent...

Ahhh! Thanks for that info. I'd commented how I wished I could not have automobiles in my farming/rural towns in another thread. Guess I'm so used to the C4-type city-builder where you need roads for almost everything, I never would have tried having no roads at all. So the Sims will still use subwa...

Might need a screen shot of that, as you are calculating it correctly.

My bad ... my math was off for the scenario I was playing. Worked fine. :o
