I was having a very similar issue today - except I couldn't even move my mouse; but I could cntl-alt-del to desktop. Are you loading saved games? If you are, you might try to load the game, then quickly re-save the game under a new save title, hoping you can get it in before it freezes, then load th...

Award goal - 'using this much of a value'

Does anyone know how this works? The game says something like "you must be using 85 of any of these (listed) values." So I look at how much, say, spirituality I'm producing - ie, 156 - and then at how much 'surplus' I have - ie, 44. To me that sounds like I'm using 112 Spirituality ... but the Award...

I feel challenged to build in the normal play where you have to earn more money to improve the city. I dunno - I'm finding it superduper easy to make money on Normal difficultly. ... on my 2nd town attempt (random map), I used about $25K of the $50K you start out with, and at the end of 2 hours I h...

Hahaha! That's great, Wolfwood.

I have a nice empty random map chosen and saved, and I'm going to try some serious building today. First test: I want to see how many people I can have before the game starts to slog down ... :D

It looks like you might have moved the cusor a bit to the left while placing Nope. :( I did notice, however, that the places it would do this last night, when I reloaded the game this morning, suddenly I could place them. So it appears to be an intermittment bug I have regarding roads and buildings...

Well, here's a few at night from my 1st tutorial map. The city is nothing special, tho - I don't typically build "pretty", especially during the first few tries. :D The moon rising is pretty cool, but I didn't catch a good pic of it, alas. Mostly, these showcase my amused delight at having a town fu...

Sometimes I can't place a road inbetween two buildings (below, pic on the right), which I assumed was for the same reason - the tiles not lining up just-so - which sounds similar to what you're describing. My other 'problem' (below, the pic on the left) is different, I think. Not sure if the picture...

Roads & intersections

Ok, it's easy to lay down roads. But I'm confused by two things: 1 - sometimes I try to place a road so it'll connect to another section of road, and the game refuses to allow it. It'll place the road several 'microtiles' away (not a full 'square') instead, as if there's a hidden obstacle in the way...

Decent game so far ...

I've only been playing the Tutorial to get into the swing of things, but so far I find it enjoyable. I don't have anything concrete or analytical to say yet, but I will agree with some of the others who've said in-game info feels a bit sparse and confusing at first. Not that it's complex or anything...

The more I read around, the more eager I am to get my grubby hands on a copy, but Gamestop probably won't have it in their store for another hour or three. :(

I'll never understand the utter bile some folk have when change doesn't go the way they wanted/dreamed. I'm sure there will be other SimCity games in the future, and I highly doubt TM has "killed" anything. They've made a game that might appeal more to a certain type of player vs. another, that's al...

A Guidebook, possibly wrong? Never! *winkwink* I'll be interested in your results...I started by taking advantage of all field, whether yellow or green, but as I began to realize I usually didn't need that much farmland space anyway, I started going for all green as a sort of self-challenge. It woul...

Great stuff.

(sorry if this is already known or something...I've been away...) Apron has no affect on weather pattern (that is set by the master Tool.cs script which runs always invisible in the background..and it can be changed also if you are daring ) I meant to mention this a long time ago but... •Is the effort to play this game going to be worth it? Well, I enjoy it a lot. The Republic campaign is far too easy (for me) but the Empire campaign is a lot of fun. It's nothing revolutionary or vastly different in terms of CB gaming, so you won't feel like there's anything really "new" abo...

Brokensword, how many years have passed in your Amida vs how many earthquakes? I still haven't had an earthquake.

Edit: even at low graphics, 1600x1200 will often look halfway decent pixelization-wise, vs. the same settings on 1024.

To me, a 'modest nice city' is one with around 3000-6000 population w/some patricians and at least middling ratings. You can actually build a lot of city/population using only one reservoir, since I believe only patrician housing, fountains and bathhouses needs to be on water tiles. As long as you p...

Yes, you can hide the aqueducts with walls, if appearance is the concern. Exactly what do you mean by no aqueducts, tho? Appearance? No fountain water? A city around only the waters edge? One pumphouse/res on waters edge, I think it'd be possible to build a modest nice city - even on fairly large ma...
