Default Equites, Equite Wages & Genoa Continue Play

Equites, Equite Wages & Genoa Continue Play

Where do I begin? Equites have a problem in the Tutorials so far. Most of it is due to the Services they require & the game giving us breather room in time.

Continuing Play (Or if you play slow) is where it really shows up. You win quickly & you don't notice. I realize that they want Services not available to them yet. Also, you can make your people happy with variety of food & goods.

There was something very interesting in the Demo I noticed, but it didn't appear to affect anything obvious.

I noticed this in #3 ~ Capua on Continue Play & now also in Continuing Play in #4 Genoa.

After awhile, Equites especially, become unhappy with their Wage Rate. You can see it in the Domus Display Wage Icon. During the Demo, I would always bump both Pleb & Equite wages up by 2 Dn at the start of Narbo & left them there in every game I played.

The full game is different, in that people get Mad for lots of reasons. Equites move out.

Anyway, I bumped Equite Wages up A LOT. 6 Dn. I will usually have many more Plebs than Equites, cuz I build the hell outta Industry. Raising Equite wages doesn't cost me much for that reason (Not that many of them). Plebs, I only bumped by 2 Dn. Really helped a lot!

On to Brundisium & finally Caesar IV Military ~ HOOT !!!

Equites get paid even if they don't work. But unemployment is a big concern for equites even though they are getting paid. They could get mad if the unemployment for them is too high.

This is true, Keith, but easy to control. Evict them by turning their residences off.

Increased wages costs you cash, but you get happiness outta it, when you can't do something else. Worked in the Classic CBs also. Helpful for immigration also. The point being, that it looks like you can't just get by with a tiny bump with Equites. Needs much more Lab time, first.

PS ~ One other thing. The more I play C4, the more of COTN I see. Unhappiness lingers & what we do to fix something takes time to show up. Very kewl, TM!

Services don't show up in the residence display. You need Overlays & Advisors.

The person says everything else is green.

Uh-huh. I've heard this song & dance before, Keith. So have you!

PS ~ I only claimed increased wages "help". They are not a substitue for experience & understanding.

Stupid, stupid equites!!! I raised their wages up to 48 and they're still not happy. They keep moving out in droves, and because they keep going there's no services to provide! Everything was nice and happy before, now I keep getting "vacant - too little entertainment" on my domi. Well, maybe there'd be some entertainment if those stupid equites had stuck around. Harumph.

If you have built the entertainment venues, like the arean, odeum or theater, did you also build the associated guilds?

Have you tracked your equites that are unhappy to see where they are going and doing?

Check your overlay maps too.

Give them time & new ones should move in after everyone leaves. You have upset that bunch.

You have all the Services, Food, Goods ready when the new ones arrive? Desirability?

How's your money & Favor? Wells for backup?

Lots of variables in this game.

PS ~ Never yell at your people, cuz they can hear you!

PS (from another thread) ~ This is Sardinia? No idea which scenario this is. Probably somewhere in the Republic Campaign. Replay the Kingdom Campaign & read the Help & Manual. You may not want to hear this, Sage Nabooru, but there is most probably something missing from your gameplay.

Well, my favor is fantastic, and there's plenty of food. The plebs are leaving because the equites are leaving. They're just packing up and heading to the end of the map and disappearing.

Money is okay, think generally low to mid hundreds, not millions but not in debt either. I tried building a wall, but to no avail. I ended up building the housing too close to the end of the map, and couldn't build one all the way around.

I do imagine I'll have to start over, just to get the walls right this time.

Good luck, Sage Nabooru!

I am nowhere near asking for your game save yet. I'm still a Noob!

PS, if you can't build a Wall cuz of the terrain, then I "think" you don't need one there. I "think" this is how the game works. Take it for what it is worth.

The Wall will still be considered "complete" if you build up to the edge of where you can build.

Don't quote me on this yet.

Equites became angry about their wages severely for no reason on that same map when I continued to play. Odd quirk. I had to evict then as said to get them happy again. Sort of a scripting bug I guess...

Have seen the Immortal Mugger Bugger yet? happens when his house gets destroyed or he is evicted. He stays around forever since the prefects will not arrest him. His thoughts say he wants to go home which does not exist, and stay flipping back and forth frozen forever in spot. Even you rebuild his house or whatever . It was in the Demo, not tested full game.

One think you have to check is if you have enough money to pay them. Even if their salary is stratosferical, if you have few hundred denarii or worse you are in the red, they worry about their wages and get mad.

After palying another test scenario, I went into debt.

I set all their wages to zero including Plebs. No one become angry at all!

Until I was into the green, then they became angry as usual fo paying them zero wage. Roma map. It seems the wage thing gets 'stuck' under certain conditions.

Anyway, I see they have a fix for the Immortal Mugger Bugger. If you need to get rid of him quick, eviction does not work but now if you delete his house the mugger came from, the mugger will disappear now. He is no longer immortal and is removed from game.

Actually it takes alot of abuse to get these guys to riot and be bad.
