Default BURDIGALA, Did anyone finish this city?

I have tried this city 3 times already, haven't been able finish this. Anyone tried this city and complete?

I keep loosing a lot of money trying to fulfill Caesar's request ( and boy he requests a lot 50 weapons, 50 armor, troops) ... with maintaining the city, having troops to defend your city, fulfilling caesars requests, i cant get any prosperity going ...

Any ideas and statergy .. ? Thanks.

failing to send REQUESTED items wont effect your favor, you just wont gain any favor.
Failling to send an ORDER will cause your favor to drop. But sending it dosen't give you any favor.

Arrg. This one is horrible. I would do fine getting myself set up with the money but then I need to get a 1000d bridge incase the enemy arrives on the wrong side otherwise I can't get rid of them and then I can't trade then I have to buy them off for 2500 that I never get out of.

I too had problems with this level, I played and lost 7 times... trying different things. I found an online game that helped, you will find it here...

The trick to winning Burdigala is to get your trade routes that sell iron all open and import the full amount of iron in the first year, stockpiling it until you have enough workers to use it to make weapons and armor. You may need to go into debt briefly in order to do it. This enables you to export a goodly amount of weapons and armor before the requests and invasions start coming in. It is also essential to sell the full amount of timber and furniture from the first year.

You can also approach it as a purely economic mission, and sell the full quota of weapons and armor, but you'll need to buy off the invasions when they come and also send gifts to Caesar. You need to win the mission within three years or so if trying this strategy, as the cost of buying off invaders becomes prohibitive.

The city linked above looks to me headed for serious problems. There is no weapons or armor industries, he has little money and no means of defending the invasions. It looks like he or she is trying to win the mission before the trouble starts, but without selling weapons and armor I don't see that happening.

You can complete the level before needing any military... you just need enough "stuff" to keep your people happy and get your prosperity up. I tried every which way to do it with a military and just could not do it.
Good luck
