Default Version Mismatch for Online Play -crucifixion

I havent played Caesar IV for monthes because of the constant problems with
the trade posts making the game crash.I deleted all my Caesar IV files.
Tonight i thought id give it another try and try to play online.I installed the game.Clicked on play online.Got message -'Version mismatch for online play _please download the latest patch'.(I logged into the game with my original username and password).I downloaded caesariv_update_en10-11_12exe (what i thought was the latest patch ).Saved this file.Ran it.Then 'The setup has detected that version 0.18.013 of caesar IV is already installed. This set-up is not compatible with this version before installing this version'.-whats going on ?

Im sure i must have been one of the first people to buy the full retail version in the shops last year because i thought it would be awesome. It crashed when i tried to place trade posts. The online play crashed constantly.

Gauis Julius Caesar would have crucified to developers of Caesar IV but i will only humbly ask,as is right -'What should i do ?'

The US version is different from the English version.Right.
There are actually 2 English patches -you didnt tell me that.I downloaded the first one and it wouldnt run.I downloaded the second one and that opened a window and updated the game.
then i got :-
'Invalid login name or password.try again,or use the Lost password button'
'This account is not yet activated.Check your e-mail for activation'
'Failed to connect to server.Make sure that you're connected to the Internet,or click the website button for support.'

alot of retards would have given up by now.

Once in a while I'll get that invalid login message, just give it a minute or two and be persistant. It should let you in.

Welcome to our family, Tim!

First, I assume it now sez 1.2 in the upper right corner of your C4 main menu. You must be patched up to date to go C4 Online in-game.

Next, I will assume that the C4 Online link at the top of the page here on the forum works for you & goes to your personal page. If not, you need to fix this membername/password stuff.

Lastly, this part...

'Failed to connect to server.Make sure that you're connected to the Internet,or click the website button for support."

This is caused by several reasons & Rnett hit on one of them. We get this message if our firewall is preventing C4 to phone home. Edit & reapply your exceptions. Something in the patch changed mine.

Another is that the first time I tried this after patching it bombed out. I needed to totally exit the game & reload it. Then it worked.

Then, sometimes the C4 Online goes down. Try again later.

I am not a Tech Team member in any way. Hope this helps!

Default more problems

No help at all.
I managed to register an internet account and was told an activation e-mail 'has been sent'.This was about 2130 BST last night. Its now 2000 hrs the next day (24 hours later)
and still no activation e-mail,or mail informing me of my old/new password.

Does This game work online at all ? Is it worth the trouble ? Do i have to post this new problem in another thread or can someone help me here ?

If Phidippedes could rise to the challenge of running 26 miles pushing himself past normal limits of human endurance in about 3 hours then why does it take
Caesar IVs servers 24 hours just to activate an account ?

Sparta and the other Greeks eventually came to the aid of Athens and eventually they were able to turn back the Persian attempt to conquer Greece.

Do I have to make similar efforts just to play Tilted Mills game online ?

Of course it works, Tim. You can see all the verification at the link at the top of the page. Even if not authorized, I think.

Last night, I played my very first C4 Online real city (Empire) & uploaded my win city of R1E Syracusae. Worked perfectly. I thought I'd have much more lag on dialup than I did (basically none, but the map & population was small).

You just need to go through the motions & not give up.

Good Luck!
