I have been a long time fan of SimCity. I have owned every game so far. I feel that people should give this game a chance. IT sounds like it could be good.
It sounds like they took Simcity and made it more about the sims in the city. Remember a city is more then just, zones, schools and the like. People make up the city too. So if they change the focus a little to the people inside the city and not just the buildings that make up the city then maybe it can be more realistic. From what I have seen, This game will still have city building but not to the extent of simcity 4. I think that it will involve more management of the sims that live in the city also. I am having trouble describing what I feel this game might be like but I hope other people can describe it better. Just give the game a chance. If it combines city building with the best parts of the sims then this game could be huge. Keep in mind that a city is more then just buildings. |

I agree with MajorTom,
Let's give Tilted Mill and SCS a chance. As soon as I realized that SCS was not to be SC4:The Next Generation I began thinking of SCS as a new game rather than as the next logical progression of an old one. Since this is a new game, I am interested to see what TM will make of it. This could actually be a good thing. New life and new ideas don't have to be bad, and they are actually brining some new areas into the tried and true SC formula that could just as easily reinvigorate the game as anything else. So, I look forward to learning more about SCS, as a potential game to play and enjoy, not as a game to take pot shots at because it didn't follow my idea of SC4:TNG exactly. Peace all, John-SJ |

I have also played every version of SC since the beginning (My first version came on 720K floppy disks - Yikes!) And I remember that in the beginning no one thought that SimCity would attract anyone because it was so different. What do you mean no winners or losers? What do you mean no time limit? Who would want to play a game that was essentially like playing with an erector set. Well 4+ versions later it is still a great game, I have SC2k, 3K and SC4 installed on my PC and would not think of removing them.
I think that this may be an interesting switch and if the game allows the city to change over time based on the wants of the inhabitants that sounds about as real as it can be. So I am going to hold judgement until I see how it actualy ends up. |

Heh. I remember those days. Back then it was "Sim City, what's that?"
Might sound strange for saying this, but I actually miss those floppy disks. Lots of gamer communities have tensions when a new game takes a different direction. Civilization III vs. Civilization IV and Caesar III vs. Caesar IV are just two examples. ![]() |

I am gonna look forward to giving it a try.
I like lots of types games and it's rare I play any for long. My record for playing one game (well...modding more than playing lol) is 5 years. Most the games I've bought the last few years last 2 to 4 weeks before I lose interest. If SCS has something new to offer - I'm for trying it. My hope is that TM will make SCS more modable than C4 or cotn were, I love how simcity and even the sims (which I rarely played) had strong mod communities and I'm hoping for that.
