I picked up Games for Windows to get the SC:S article, and I came across Dwarf Fortress (
http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/). The game plays out entirely in ASCII.
Now, I wanted to bring this up simply because
1) It tells a richly detailed story
2) Knowledge of what the ASCII means gives more info than an Icon can
3) It has great depth of gameplay
4) It strangely resembles the screens of The Matrix
I understand much of the fuss over SC:S. And to some extent I share in that fuss. I simply wish to point out gameplay isn't all pretty pixels and 3D rendering. Tetris is simple. People still fiddle with the Rubix Cube.
