It would be great if TM could post its docs/manuals on the scripting engine/functions. ...

Out of curiosity, (please don't kill the cat) did they post any docs/manuals for scripting for the C4 editor? If so, where? I'd love to get ahold of them and give them a read.

I think they posted an incomplete function list somewhere for the game itself.. Not sure.
Hieronymous compiled all the info together here: http://www.tiltedmill.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12787 |

OK. I'm going to sound desperate here. Please, TM, release the docs. The front page of simcity.ea.com says:

Still can't make sense of anything. Could TM could at least post the functions and arguments for "System", "TMill.SC5M", "System.Collections", and "System.Collections.Generic"?

System, System.Collections and System.Collections.Generic are Visual Studio .NET framework libraries, the TM Library is SCSLIB.dll The easiest way is to open up Visual Studio, create a new project and add a reference to the SCSLIB.dll library and add all the scripts as well. Then use the object browser to view all the functions.
If you don't own Visual Studio, MS has a free version called Visual C# 2008 Express that you can download and use. Which would probably be a good idea for anyone who seriously wants to create scripts. D |

Yup Visual Sutio is what i use to, i have the professional version but that is because of my work. Anyways a manual would indeed be very usefull and hopefully they still release such documents in the near future.

To a lesser extent some clarification/expansion on some of the included documentation texts would be nice. The only one I noticed for an example was a large lack for the options for road ambient placement rules. You can look through the files and find things like water, skew (or slant? I don't recall) etc. But category and slope are the ones actually listed.
The fact they are there at all is awesome, but complete documentation is always nice. |
