I thought I would see what was happening in my place of interest i.e the 9 nomes covered by my Level 4 market. There are 90 cities in this survey.
Of the 90 they have the following goods - with 8 goods average on a random pick should be 11 [ 12% ] 18 [ 20% ] Bronze 14 [ 16% ] Gold 13 [ 15% ] Henna 11 [ 12% ] Leather 10 [ 11% ] Oil 9 [ 10% ] Cedar 9 [ 10% ] Kohl 6 [ 7% ] Emeralds The 9-13's are close enough to the average. Emeralds, Bronze and Gold are all a fair way off especially Gold [ too many ] and Emeralds [ too few ]. There are no level 5 palaces or higher. This area was settled 6 days ago and by now any Level 1 city most likely isn't going to happen and even the level 2 cities are a bit suspect. Highest levels are Level 4 cities with 14 [ 16% ] Level 3 cities with 39 [ 43% ] Level 2 cities with 7 [ 8% ] Level 1 cities with 30 [ 33% ] Gives a fair idea of how many inactive cities there will be over the whole map, maybe 600 of the 1800 playing now. If these were dropped out and we all moved in then instead of being 60 hours from end to end we would only be 40 hours. LOL. Now for good by level of city. First the Level ones. Emeralds have 2 out of 6 or 33% Kohl have 5 out of 9 or 56% Cedar have 2 out of 9 or 22% Oil have 5 out of 10 or 50% Leather have 4 out of 11 or 36% Henna have 4 out of 13 or 31% Gold have 3 out of 14 or 21% Bronze have 5 out of 18 or 28% Its impossible to know if the drop outs would drop out no matter what their good or if when they find out what they ended up with they weren't interested. Kohl and Oil are way above average for level 1 cities and Gold and cedar have very few level 1 cities. Since there are only 7 level 2 cities I have decieded to assume they may not be playing much longer or have already given up. May be wrong but because the number is so low its easier to include them in the level 1 cities. The seven are 2 in cedar and oil and 1 in Henna,Leather and Kohl. This leaves us with the following level 3 and 4 cites that will be actively trading and most likely keep playing. [ is out of 53 active cities ] Emeralds 2 L4 and 2 L3 [ 4 of 53 or 8% ] Cedar 2 L4 and 3 L3 [ 5 of 53 or 9% ] kohl 3 L3 [ 3 of 53 or 6% ] Oil 1 L4 and 2 L3 [ 3 of 53 or 6% ] Leather 6 L3 [ 6 of 53 or 11% ] Henna 4 L4 and 4 L3 [ 8 of 53 or 15% ] Gold 3 L4 and 8 L3 [ 11 of 53 or 21% ] Bronze 2 L4 and 11 L3 [ 13 of 53 or 25% ] I am surely glad I am not a Bronze or Gold city. They are way, way over what they should be in terms of how many number of cities with their good. Kohl or Oil on the other hand are probably pretty good best for a second city in this area. INteresting too that no Leather or Kohl cities have yet reached level 4 status but Henna and Emeralds seem to be the best goods to reach that level as they both have highest proportion of L4 to L3 cities. It would be interesting to see how this worked over a bigger area but this is my area so thats what I worked on. Hope someone finds it interesting. |

Thank you Cliff. That has told me just what I need to do before deciding what resource to go for on my second city.

Hi Kate,
I wouldn't expect the same result everywhere [ different goods in different areas ] and it may be better to go out a bit more before making the big decision on a second city. I think I would go out 7 nomes each way and get the information from 15 nomes and then see what its like. I only did this on my current market. Doesn't take long with a bit of paper and a pen. Took me twice as long to type the results up as it did to collect them. Glad you liked it. Certainly I am looking more at Kohl now but really its probably the least useful of the 8 goods as far as i cna see at this stage. |
