Exclamation Sabah planned downtime (3PM EST)

Planning to move Sabah off to a different server this afternoon (mid-afternoon EST) to help alleviate the load.

The downtime may be as little as a couple hours, depending on how quickly the DNS updates for you.

I just know you're looking forward to the rows and rows of servers you'll have to deal with in the future Reed.

Yay! Though, could you post the IP# of the new server once it's up? No need to keep the tech-savvy people from playing.

Will time stop during the shutdown or will everything continue (or instantly play catch up) when the server is switched.

My main concern is goods in transit during the "down time" not being delivered. Late is ok (and understandable), poofing into nothingness would not be.

Why do you need that info Arm?

Yeah, I just sent out 5K sculptures and I'd really like them to arrive at their destination....

DNS updates can take a while to trickle down (depending on how close your ISP is to DNS root servers). Some ISPs may only refresh DNS daily or may have a very intolerant negative cache TTL set up

So, I agree with ArmEagle's request... can we get the IP address once the server(s) have been migrated?

Well Jesus Reed...

(laugh) Coulda used a 2 minute warning there.

I knew it was "coming" to day... but you said Noon EST... it's Noon PST... some 4 hours later... I thought you'd already done it.

I was in the middle of re-allocating workers to fix a bread problem in one of my cities when "SABAH IS BEING MOVED"

lol

well, you said "Mid afternoon" ...

however, by logic

Noon = 12:00 EST
Evening = 5:00PM EST
Therefore, Afternoon = 12:01 EST - 4:59 EST

Therefore, mid-afternoon = 2:28EST

Killing it at 4PM EST is 2 hours late!

I dunno. i'm just bored I guess.

At the log in page, there was a message saying Sabah was going to be unavailable in the afternoon. I don't know how early the message was there, but it was there around 11:00 am Eastern daylight savings time.

Should be back in business now, for most folks.

If the DNS hasn't propagated for you yet and you don't want to wait, you can manually point the domain to 174.133.176.66.
