Default Moving Basalt to Stone Carver's thingy!!!! HELP!!!!

Okay so I have spent maybe an hour (or more) trying to figure out how to get the little basalt men to the stone carver's to finish my cult temple. I have tried changing the overseer to oversee construction I have tried building an overseer and a stoncarver right next to the cult temple... OH! and i also can't dedicate a regular temple because of the same thing and I can't finish a monument either all for the same reason.... I NEED HELP!!!!!! AHAHAHAHAHA!!!! When i tell the overseer to oversee construction all he does is go home and kick back with some tea. what am i doing wrong? I can't find anything in the help thingies either.... i am a little frustrated.....

WHEW that was a good vent! really if anyone can help!

Do you have a Large Basalt statue for the cult temple and Small Basalt statues for your other temples? When you have a basalt statue (large or small) and have a project requiring a statue, and have an overseer set to oversee construction, and have at least 4 laborers then you can get somewhere. The overseer will then direct the laborers to drag the appropriate statue to the appropriate project, then the stonecarver comes along and makes it all prettyfied. Other notes: If you have a basalt quarry, you will get more small statues out of it then large. There is a thread about the exact numbers and the ratio of small to large that a quarry will produce. If you are importing statues, first make sure that you are importing the proper size and also have a Cargo Drop Off that can accept them. Another thing, if you have small basalt statues that aren't being used they can be taken by sculptors (luxury shop) to be turned into sculptures to sell in their shops.

Hope this helps you!!

Almost forgot....make sure that you are not holding any statues in reserve. In the food and resources panel when you click on a particular resource you have the ability to hold a certain amount so that it cannot be used or exported. For example, if you need to have 30 papyrus to open a trade route you can set the reserve to 30 and your papyrus makers will hold up to 30 papyrus (provided that you have enough papyrus makers!!) for you to send with your envoy. This way your priests or scribes can't take any papyrus unless you have over 30 in store.

Additional to imho's very comprehensive replies.

If the basalt statues need to cross the river, you're going to need the following to do so:
2 landings/wharfs, one on each side.
A shipwright (to build a barge)
Cedar (an import luxury good) for the barge's wood

This river cross issue was a much discussed scenario in I think two other threads!

Hehe. I've been wathcing a lot of these help threads and it seems like it often takes two somewhat experienced folks to cover all intricacies that are possible in a given problem.

This is turning out to be a more complex (and interesting) game than I had originally thought!

I, personally, have long sought a game into which I could become fully immersed and spend hours "grinding away" at some meaningful development.

It seems that it is most definitely here ...
