Question Which processor is used?

Hi,

Does anyone know if this game lets the graphics card processor handle the graphics calculations? Is it all done on the main board?

My CPU is purring like a kitten when I'm Alt-tabbed out to desktop, But when in full screen mode it's slammed to the wall. Can someone confirm this on their Task Manager. Is it just me?

Screen shot of my TM in various game states.

The game puts a heavy load on both the computer and the graphics card. I run a P4 3Ghz with 1GB RAM and a Radeon 9800 Pro graphics card and my Task Manager shows a heavy load too. It shows I COTN using about 346,308K memory, and the performance indiactor shows 100% usage (I've got two small apps running the background full time so that a tends to peg my performance meter.)

My computer is a Pentium III 500Mhz with 512 RAM and a ATI Radeon 9000 All in Wonder.
I'm playing the demo without noticeable slowdown. Does anyone knows if the demo ask for less "power" han the full game? (I beleive not but I'm not sure)

I'm wondering because I'm planning to buy the game for Christmas and I don't think my wife will like the fact that I have to spend another $500.00 to upgrade my machine

Thanks for any answer.

I would think the shear amount of AI that has to be going on will be what taxes the processor the most.

Well, considering the game is paused, and the only thing that changes is whether the display is minimized, the difference in cpu cycles is incredible. What is going on when the game is paused and in full screen mode? Why does that take every bit of the main processor when the display is active? And why on earth does it take so much cpu to display a static image? Isn't the AI on pause? What could it be calculating?

The game runs well enough on my machine. Every once in a while it gets bogged down and seems more than a little choppy. Panning the view gets dicey and it will jump a hundred yards in one click. But it will usually settle down after a short while and go for 20 mins without much problem.

I just never noticed such a hit on my machine before. Even guys with top end machines seem to need every bit of what they under the hood to keep up. I think it's a bit odd. That's all.
