Default Soldiers not respecting the weapons reserve!

I'm playing on the Hyksos Pharaoh standalone scenario, and i started importing cedar wood from Pe. So i built three weaponsmiths, waited to have 25 weapons, and opened trade with Pe. All nice, until i start building an army. Despite having i set the weapons reserve to 25, soldiers continue to get them! What's wrong with them?

Government workers will ignore "Reserve" settings. For example, even if you "Reserve" papyrus, your scribes and priests will still get them. "Reserving" something is simply there as a way to declare how many goods are for government use only ("Reserved" cedar will not be used by Furniture Shops) and a way to let the World Level sites know that they have their payments available.

I thought that reserved amount only for use of traders...is there some way i can prevent government workers to use the reserved resource, as well as private ones?

Could you please post your game save showing proof of this? Thankx!

Unfortunatelly, i have deleted the saved file (i don't know how to attach files anyways), but try playing the Hyksos Pharaoh, and please tell me if you have the same problem.

No. "Reserving" simply means that you're "reserving" resources for government use only. Government use includes both World Level payments and government workers' use. The best solution is either to build more Weapon Makers or just wait until all of your soldiers have all the weapons they need.

How did you discover that? I am pretty sure that in the game guide, and everywhere else i've seen, says that 'reserving' will prevent your city as a whole, which includes government workers, of using the resource. By the way, this is the only time it has happened to me. I am always able to stockpile papyrus in other scenarios, and no priests and scribes use it.

How do you consider shipwright? If you reserve cedar, he will not build ships, even if a warship is needed and a commander is dedicated to Navy.

First let me start by saying Azeem is terribly wrong (So sorry, Azeem). Reserve is for WM sites. All citizens in your city should obey them. I have never seen an exception yet.

However, there is a special case. Let's say you have papyrus set to 40 & no WM upkeep. At 40, your Priests/Scribes will not go shopping. They can't due to the reserve. Then a maker makes one to bring the total up to 41. Priest sez "Hey, I can go shopping now!". He goes to a maker with lots & takes 6, his usual amount if available in that maker. Total is now 35. Quirk in the game.

Moral: I always reserve at least five more than I need. Actually I reserve 10 more.

Now soldiers only take one weapon at a time, so this should not happen with them. Oh, perhaps two soldiers at the same time lowers your total to 24. Nothing worse than that, I would assume.

(Posted in two parts. Posting problem again.)

I am not saying you are wrong, just that I have not seen it. I have been surprized by the game workings before.

I loaded my completed Hyksos Pharaoh & checked the World Map. It is complete with all sites open/conquered/converted, so I don't remember what they looked like before or during play. Pe upkeep is 25 weapons for cedar. Granite Quary upkeep is 10 weapons for obelisks. I can't remember the mission specifically, but I had a lot (even for me). My final weapons count was 93 in 9 makers & I have over 200 soldiers. There must have been several huge open site requirements for weapons. I just don't remember the mission any more in that detail. Perhaps even mercs that required weapons upkeep that are not on my WM any longer? I even think I used reserve also, but it is off in my save. For large open/upkeep requirements , I DO use reserve weapons. You have to to keep your soldiers from stealing them.

Question: Is it possible you are mistaken & it was just a WM upkeep & not & not really soldiers taking weapons? It happens automatically. They just disappear from your makers by magic at upkeep time. Poof!

Can you give me more information? Are you an experienced COTN player? How fresh is your memory of this mission? How much below 25 did you go? What was the value of the drop & how many times? Did you go below 15 (thinking Granite Quary here)?

Oh, Azeem was correct one one thing. Three weaponsmakers is not enough. build more cuz they only hold 12 max.

I was still at the mission start,i had just started building an army. I had opened Pe, but only to see if it revealed any other sites. immediately after receiving the 'relations start' message, i suspended realtions. When cedar got needed, i built three weaponsmiths (exactly for the 12 max:it would get to 36) but i was unpatient and started building the army when i had 22 weapons. The stocks got lower and i'm sure it were the soldiers! Basic equipment appeared in their homes! What's the solution? And by the way, how do i attach files?

This must be it. I've always seen this behavior in my cities. But then again, at the time I didn't have my game patched (since I installed it on another computer).
