Default ordinances

One of the aspects of the later games in the simcity series that I liked was ordinances. It provided the player with an indirect way to influence the running of their city (i.e. 'if you allow gambling the city government earns more money in revenues but there is more crime'). I would love to see an ordinances option in Caesar IV... (and acknowledge freely that citybuilders don't simply copy ideas from other games, but nor should good ideas be discarded!)

Default Imperial Decrees

I think that might be interesting ... it might be better to call them Imperial Decrees thought ... fits better than City Ordinances for a Roman game ...

but yeah man ... excellent suggestion .. that's basically what the Senate was for deciding the laws of hte Empire and announcing it to the people ...

certainly make for a good use of the Forums

Default yes

yes, the word "ordinances" does sound a tad dull. I had in mind more options that the old Imperial decree. It is more an issue of local city management.

I agree with this I also liked these options in simcity "even though I don't like simcity" I think It will add more depth to the game.

you could have ordinances carried out by the provincial governor and the occasional imperial decree ordained by caesar (or senate) in the provinces.

I love ordinances (or Imperial Decrees, that's a better name for a Roman city). It adds so much flavor. I love in CotN when you Edict a festival and everyone goes dancing in groups.

And in C4, as you rise in rank, there could be more impressive decrees you can issue. Like as a Citizen governor, maybe you can only choose to release some food from stores or have a small festival, but as a higher ranking governor, you could decree a province-wide holiday or to double taxes for the year.

Yes, please! The level of influence you have with edicts in COtN is laughable. And you have a choice of about five?
Please, developers, put Imperial Decrees in C IV. It would make it more realistic. The best part would be having to balance the postive and negative side-effects and seeing how different maps/scenario's develop when you choose a different combination of Decrees.
