You know, one thing that always bugged me about the CB genre is the annoying lack of physical strategy guides....IE: a real book. Most other games of the same depth have them.....but not CBs.....bah.

But having seen most of those links mentioned....I can safely say that it is a rather good list for those looking for tips and walkthroughs. :D I'm sure the newer members (and maybe some oldies...) thank you greatly for the links. :p

Well, look at it this way: you didn't have to shell out money to get the info here. More importantly, for games *with* strat guides I always get better info online. For one thing, the strat guides are issued "pre-release" and may not reflect the actual retail game, and certainly don't reflect patches. Another is that the strat guides are based on how the playtesters played and how the designers thought the game would be played. The forums give the accumulated wisdom of a lot of players--some very expert--who try all sorts of things that the designers never dreamed of.

OTOH, a strat guide often makes a good coaster or footrest. :D

There are strategy guides for some of the city builders. I have ones for Caesar III and Pharaoh. I would suspect that sales didn't warrant doing ones for later games.

There are?! Hmm....I must look into this. Seems a bit late in the game but I would like to see these. (you never know what you can learn years after completing a game) :D :p

selected tips from players section added... today's feature "getting more villagers"

Postby sitearm » Thu Oct 13, 2005 8:55 pm

A new section "Selected CotN tips from players" has been added to the first post of this thread. Today's threads feature...

getting more villagers

If you have ever run out of villagers, these selected threads provide tips. Many thanks to Johanotep, MarkDuffy, Max-1 and others for their findings about the care and um... breeding of villagers.

(Disclaimer: The player threads shown are of unusual interest but the entire forum is full of tips. "Search - Advanced Search" is your best friend: Learn it, Love it, Use it. :) )

Thank you for the links!

Getting stuck on Nubt. Huge noises of dissent in my first attempt, and was nearly overthrown in my 2nd :(
One moment they love me, the next I became house-hold name at the dinner table, then some factions think I don't deserve to rule, then they said it's not so bad. Too volatile, so I went Alt+F4 and off to work :D

Will try again :D

What a great collection! I hadn't seen this thread before.
The link to barge landings was especially helpful - they really gave me a headache.

It's good to have this sticky thread, but several of the threads above are now deadlinked.

Those old links/threads are no longer operative or were wrong when first posted anyway.
