I don't think that Emperor lacked for monuments. Between the Grand Temple, the smaller temple, the Grand Canal, the two or three earthen burial tombs, the tomb of the emperor with the pottery soldier bodyguard, the earthen Great Wall, the stone Great Wall, and the Grand Palace, it seemed to have plenty to suit me.

For me, it's all about the monuments and historical achievements. I thought Pharaoh did a much better job in that, especially with the Cleopatra package. It just occured to me how cool it could be if you could increase your city's "spirituality" scale with some bonus supplied by training a monk to copy Buddhist sutras or something. That's the kind of detail I like!

ROTMK had some awesome music, too. That's one thing I really miss. All the way back to the forum music in Caesar II!

I thought "Emperor" had enough monuments. Any more would make the map too cluttered. The game just had an annoying sprites limit and maps that were too small. :o One aspect I didn't like were the "Heroes" system; it would have been better if they kept it more automated as in "Zeus" instead of having to go back to the Religions screen and sacrificing every month.

Nice to see another Asian Studies specialist, by the way. :D My focus is on Korean cultural studies. ;)

Actually it's Archaeology and Art History I'm getting my PhD for; I specialize in historical archaeology (technical, not popular term) and my main areas of focus are Asia and the Middle East, although I do have a soft spot for Europe and the Mesoamerican civilizations.

As for Korea my main hope is that the regime in the North either falls or cools down enough to open up to American archaeological study. Goguryeo, Lelang, Dongye, Dongokjeo - all still have remains in NK that wait to be unearthed.

And there can never be too many monuments or cultural developments! On Cleopatra I had Alexandria looking like Washington DC - there was a wide avenue down the middle I built the Library, Caesareum, the Mausoleum, all the monuments in a neat tourist row. It was beautiful, let me tell you....shame none of it exists today.

Start an on-site petition to update Emperor:ROTMK

Postby mike28086 » Wed Mar 18, 2009 11:56 pm

A lot of us seem to want an update to Emperor or even a new game based on Emperor. Maybe if we start a sign-up petition of some sort, the heads of TM will see that we are serious, and hopefully a lot will show their support by signing up then we might get something going with this. ;)

There are so many good choices for a "next game" and most of them have been listed over and over again in the past 8 years. I'm sure TM has a pretty good idea of what the public would like to see by now.

A petition might make the petitioners feel better, but I doubt if it will sway the business decission TM will make on "what comes next."

It's as Keith says. Online petitions don't accomplish anything aside from creating the feeling that something might have been accomplished.

Do a Google search on "Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom." It is a city-builder, NOT an Age of Empires style RTS game.

And edit your posts instead of senseless double-posting. That just clutters the forum unnecessarily.

@mark:

1. Do not fall into the old habits.
2. Do not advertise.
3. Contacting Reed now.
4. Only post if it has relevance. Your above post #31, does not contribute to the topic in hand.

mark, you should put that in another thread or in the "Other Games to Try" thread, in fact that would be perfect in the other games thread.

Don't you advertise though?

Why are you reporting to Reed?

I'm going to let him know mark is doing his old habits, again.

True, but I do not advertise games, rather forums. ;)

Yeah but you don't like being picked on, why are you picking on mark? I sometimes question whether or not your dislike of him and your insistence that everyone speak English might not be racially motivated...

Advertisements are advertisements, unless they're for charities. ;) Besides, he's just talking about a game he likes, no one paid him to put that there and he's not the owner.

I'm not picking on mark and I do not insist that everyone speak English. Mark just posts in the wrong threads, that have no sense in them at all.

You do seem to focus solely on him and you did ban him from that first forum you made.

You know what I mean, I'm talking about on the forums, you do seem to insist that everyone on the forums speak English.

I don't see why that requires reporting though...

No I do not. Do I care if I create a forum just to ban them? I do not insist anyone speak proper English.

I was reporting something that has no concern of you Amun

Lol, no, you know the temp forum you set up that got trashed.

Well it seems like you do, just look in that other thread mate.

If you're picking on another player, we other players make it our concern.
