Birds of Ill Omen

Postby Herodotus » Sun Sep 02, 2007 9:48 am

The high Priests of the temple of Jupiter have consulted the book of the Sibyls and say they are a type of Larus unknown to them and that this sign of Ill omen fortells a Great Earthquake in Antiochia

But a scruffy vagrant called out that they were Pallas's Gulls migrating to their breeding grounds on the shores of the Black and Caspian Seas and it happened every year :p .

Another scruffy vagrant shouts - that's all you know, you stringer - what about the black leading edge to their wings? And anyway that's an anachronism.

A fight ensued.... I sent in the Prefects

Happy birthday, Dorn.

Here are some screenies of Tingis...my best city so far. Everything went pretty much as planned, but I forgot about the limited number of exotic goods and had to give up my estate to make room for some more villas. :(

Tingis has some "Poconos" in an inconvenient (of course) spot, so I planned around them and made them into a feature. :)

Absolutely. I L.O.V.E. snow! And to be honest, i kinda pray for it already...cos i just like it a bit stormy, cold and so i am a winter fan. ;) :)

An also thanks to you cartpusher. If your screens wouldn't show the interface, i would take the one with the guys on the plaza/street as my new desktop pic. Would be perfect in the background... :D

Sorry this took so long, Dorn.

Here is a similar view with interface minimized. I couldn't get the same people as before, but this view has a gladiator and a lion.

So I. A.M. back on the Caesar IV track...

However i announced that i did a mission in early october and here are the pics. I finally mastered caesarea in a few hours on a stormy saturday. :)

So you see, despite hard work every day and very very extreme little time to play on pc i slowly come to the end of the game - i guess only 3 missions left to the outro...

As you might see there is still a german red sign saying "you cheated!" on my win screen, which i will explain to you cos i always feel a bit guilty when i read that: i changed the game speed a little to make fast even faster and slow a little bit faster. Thats all. No other cheats at all. I swear from my old city-builder heart! :D

....enjoy my city - as always no grand-architecture deal, no very brilliant outlayings, but just a city that works very fine...

Nicomedia on the hills. I've seen a couple of walkthroughs that were very rectangular, so I thought I would try something more random.

I had this concept of a sort of Acropolis with equite and pleb housing all around and a ring of markets and warehouses surrounding everything.

These pics are right before the win screen. I wanted to get all of the carts moving around the perimeter with none of them going into the residential areas, but I don't have the distribution worked out yet. I spotted a couple of cartpushers taking wheat to the waterfront food markets, so something is wrong there. I haven't done very much landscaping either. The Acropolis needs to be rearranged a little as well.

I need to do my entry for the CBC contest so I won't be finishing this for a while. More pics later.

Creating Screenshots

Postby Brendanius » Sat Nov 03, 2007 2:22 am

Hi!
I've just uploaded Hippo Regius a few days ago with 100% across the board, excepting Favor, which I managed to get up as far as 93% (... result of missing a few military requests early in the game) A population of 8,600 supports 24 Grand Mansions.
I'd like to make a few screenshots of it, but alas I don't know how to go about it.
I couldn't find anything in the FAQ.
Do I need special software, or can it be done within C IV itself?

You can make screenshots within the game. Press the F9 key and the current view will be placed in the Screenshots folder in your CIV directory. It will be coded with the city name and the time and date that you clicked the F9 key.

Then, come to this forum and start a new thread or reply to an existing one. Below the text area is a button, "manage attachments". Click on that and browse for your screenshots. Click "upload" and the screenshots will become part of your post.

You can review your post and the pictures before you click "submit reply" to upload everything to the forum.

Is it my imagination or have the thumbnails suddenly become larger?

Something to do with the imminent SCS launch maybe?
